Wikipedia seems to think that 4GR has D-4S but you never know.
D-4 is direct injection, right? Or is it still port? (I've seen sources saying both ). I know D-4S is a combo.
D4 is direct injection, D4-S is "D4- superior" which is direct + port. And I'm pretty sure only the engines I mentioned use it, hence why it was a pretty big deal when ppl figured out the engine in the GT5 preview said "D4-S".

From the looks of this conversation, the FT86's boxer engine has some pretty sweet potential.

D4-S possibly combined with AVCS.... Nice. Would I be overzealous if I said I also wanted variable valve lift and variable intake geometry along with those two?

not at all. the combination of all these things are the reasons why i'll be simply amazed if toyota comes out with anything less than 200hp with a decent torque curve.

it seriously follows simple logic that it's entirely possible, never mind the fact that it's been done before by other companies in relatively inexpensive cars.

However, IMHO Variable intake geometry would just make it a bigger pain in the ass to turbo and mod. It'd also more likely have VVT-i than AVCS, however I think VVTi is implicitly part of the valvematic setup.

The big question is if D4-S can be implemented together with Valvematic. That would = instant, Epic, Win.

It's true, when already having something like VVT-i in the mix a variable intake geometry would just make things too expensive and complicated, with very little benefit.....and this is before any sort of turbocharging. So, I completely agree; although i still think it would be cool to see all of those technologies in one package!

And I totally agree with the D4-S + valvematic statement. Instant. Epic. Win, if anything, is an understatement!! Yeayuh!

2JZ are awesome... but prefer to put around same liter 1JZ (.5 Liter more) in there instead 2.5L vs 3L). Yeah I know that 2JZ are a lot better than 1JZ

I love "putting around" with the 2jz, the power and sound are amazing to me, do we know about what the ft-86 will weigh?

That sound good, now depending where the power is, it will have a decent power to weight ratio, isn't it suppose to be 200-250hp? Also I heard rumors of a possible turbocharged package anybody else heard this?

Factory turbo option is still a rumor. I'm pretty sure we never got confirmation on it..

Only reason I'd like it to be turbo is because on most factory turbo vehicles the blocks are built to run turbo, meaning maybe lower then normal compression and a Lil strong core, because I already know the small turbo they put on is coming off and a slightly bigger one is going in it's place
