You need to get over your personal vendetta with the FA20 already..
Do you know how long the "last generation" EJ stayed for?

Who cares? That has nothing to do with the times or technology changes that are ever increasing to meet the demands.. You know how long the small black Chevy stayed for? Everything changes.. And ever more quickly in these times..

The Fx2x is the staple of Subaru's future lineup. It won't be going away anytime soon.

It's almost synonymous with Nissan's VQ...

lol im on stock everything and sticky tires to keep this on the road and i have 400++hp and over 10K turbo miles on it so ill let everyone know when something/anything takes a turn for the worst but believe me this car can handle it very well!! and i agree the tuning of the car is very important because my tune WORKS lol

The engine/tune is not what I'm worried about...

Correct.

I've seen them go at lower power levels than yours. It just depends on how often you're enjoying your power. If you're doing just a freeway pull or two once or twice a week, you may be lucky and never suffer a failure.

Nobody really knows what the breaking point (pun intended) is yet.

Your car is a great testament to the shortblock and FA20club's tuning. I think it shows what we've been saying a good tune is probably all this car needs to avoid the issues we've been experiencing.

I would ask how much extended 5200 rpm+ runs (not WOT pulls rather long runs holding it in the powerband?) Also what oil are you using?

Thanks for posting.

If he's running a FA20CLUB ECUTEK tune, then he probably has fixed transient timing tables

Yes and we are still in the infancy of tuning this car, when you look at Subaru tuning there are other compromises made for emissions that probably should also be modified. I figure if I'm going to put an aftermarket tune on this car might as well clean up the long open to closed loop delays, the over dependence on knock sensor feedback and probably several other things tuners working with the Subaru factory tuning strategies have been dealing with for years.

If its any consolidation its not all Subaru's fault, they were pressured by Tada/Toyota to extract 100hp/L on an engine without variable lift and still meet strict global emissions including carbon taxes.

Would be happy to give up a little dyno HP for a track tune with a catless header. Just saying there is still improvement beyond the missed TIR tables. Many times a good track tune can lower oil temps. This engine has potential and in time hopefully these things will be worked out before enthusiasts give up on the platform.

He is also running e85 which may fix both the detonation and heat problems.
