Bloomington has a WRB Premium in AT. It is currently in their showroom floor. I was able to spend some time with it and get an initial impression.

The first thing I noticed was that the BRZ is VERY low. It's a night and day difference versus my Camry. Being only 5'7'', I felt like I towered over the car. I couldn't imagine the folks who are 6' and over.

The seats provide very good support. They're even more aggressive than my old S2000 seats. The bolsters keep you in place and don't allow very much lateral movement for your shoulders.

Unfortunately since it was an automatic, I was not able to test the clutch feel.

Overall I was very impressed with the BRZ, and I can't wait to pick mine up!

FR-S update

I have an update for Minnesota FR-S members.

My salesman let me know yesterday that my car (a silver, manual, FR-S) is very near, but they do not have a defined delivery date as of yet. My car is in the Dayton’s Bluff distribution center. This is the major facility in Cottage Grove (you can see it from Highway 61) where railcars are unloaded and cars are then trucked to dealerships. My salesman gave me a printout from the Toyota Inventory Control System showing the vehicle status, and including its VIN and detailed window sticker information. (I see that the port added one accessory, a $95 trunk mat.)

I got excited, thinking my car was maybe only a day or two away from being delivered! But my salesman tempered that by stating that even though the car is physically less than 20 miles away, the Toyota system does not indicate a release date from the yard or a delivery date to the dealership.

So I did a little digging (I won’t reveal sources and means) and I have found out that as of today, there are actually about 20 FR-S’s in the Dayton’s Bluff yard. They do not have a date for shipping out to dealers, because they have been instructed by Toyota to hold the cars there until closer to the June 1st official launch date.

The dealer still has zero information from Toyota regarding accessories and prices -- the one thing I do want is to add XM radio.

So now you guys know everything I know. It’s fun to know our cars are so closeby -- and it’s starting to feel pretty real!

Cheers,

Dave

That's good news for Chupa.

If only the BRZs were here as well.

I stopped by the Bloomington Acura-Subaru dealer over lunch time and checked out the BRZ they have on the showfloor. As ayau pointed out above, it's a Premium model, automatic, in WR Blue, with 3,400 miles on it and wearing Manufacturer's plates. It was open, and I could access the hood and trunk and explore it to my heart's content. It fits me like a glove. No one from the dealership bothered me or spoke to me. I hadnt seen an '86 since the Minneapolis Auto Show in March, when the BRZ wowed me. It was fun to sit in it again, and touch and feel everything again. Can't wait for my FR-S to arrive.

One week and my BRZ should be here. I'm really hoping it will get here early so I can go take a nice long drive on Memorial day. This is going to be a long week

Woot! I'm less than one week away from having my car sold. That means my down payment will be good as gold. Then hopefully not too long of a time before my FR-S is here. I can't ride motorcycles all the time

Does anyone have any experience with SkipChips, or any other local 3M paint protection filim installers?

They gave me a quote well below the dealership. I'm just curious is anyone knows of any reason not to go with them, or local shops that would be better.

No trust me if I already had it I'd be bragging about it right now.

I was at the dealership yesterday getting a quote on my trade in, and finalizing all the details. They were asking about all the dealer add on's like underbody coating (yeah right) and the 3M paint protection film which I do like the idea of but will probably not get through them. I'm just waiting for them to let me know if they can match the price SkipChips gave me (33% lower then the dealer).

They had a WRB BRZ Preimum in the showroom. I resisted the urge to go and sit in it for a while.

Woot! We definitely have to plan a meeting. Anyone else planning on going out to Grimm? I bet they would like to have a few 86's stop by.

I need to get out there and pick up the Front License Plate Tow hook Mount. I haven't called the dealership to remind them not to drill for a couple weeks. Time for a call!
