The front is stronger than the the rear.
I think it is because the front Brembo piston area is larger than FR-S oem caliper. But the rear Brembo piston area is smaller than the FR-S oem caliper.

As I've said throughout this thread, Brembos front and rear gives you a big shift forward in brake bias...

You could try different pads front and rear. If you call Carbotech they may have some suggestions.

Thank you Andy.

Do you have any other street performance pads combination recommended?

Hawk has 2 new pads that I've heard surprisingly good things about.

They have a new HPS 5.0 and a new "Street Race" compound. That might work out.

High Performance Street/Race Hawk Pads, built to take more consistent abuse.

or

High Performance Street 5.0 Hawk Pads, so not necessarily for racing application, just better than OEM daily driver street use.

I don't know the meaning of restraint, so I'd be all over the racing ones to maybe offset the front bias.

So would I be better off with STI brembos in front and stay with the stock rear calipers?

FWIW I'm currently running Brembo's front and rear, and they're brilliant for street use. Initially I had stoptech pads all round and found the front bias a little too strong, so switched rear pads to project mu and the 'balance' improved noticeably.

Mind you, I only felt the strong front bias when doing long hard braking.....which is rarely happens on public roads. Otherwise they felt fine.

Now if I were to track the car (which I don't) I'd probably remove them and go with a more performance focused package.

Also bear in mind that rotors and pads for brembo's are rather pricey. I dare not imagine the cost of regularly replacing pads all round if I tracked the car with them.

In terms of balance when using the same pads all around, yes.

So what kind of pads would one look for in the rear to offset the front bias? Just something that bites more in the rear? Possibly noisier? I'm considering the Hawk Street/Race ones for a potential future setup.

Finally got my set on. Installed them sunday, went to the track monday. Very happy with them! Im running a slightly more aggressive stoptech pad in the rear and the brake bias is really negligible. On the street you don't notice it at all actually and on the track I only noticed it when I was braking VERY hard from about 110+. Pedal is super firm and predictable.

Got the calipers, rotors, lines, hardware, pads and fluid for less then $2000.00.

So many nice setups in here! I've been waiting to reveal mine for over a year now. The project has only just now reached its finality. Here's a sneak peek for y'all, not shared anywhere else!

They should be mounted tomorrow, so I'll have more pics then. Beyond excited!
