Well, a little bit funny.

Just remember - if you're lucky you might get old some day.

A lot of the vegan substitutes for real food, i.e., jackfruit instead of pulled pork, seitan instead of pastrami, tofu slurry (or whatever they use) instead of cream cheese, are actually wonderful ways to lose weight....because it's almost impossible to eat, and starvation is a more attractive option.

... said with love and tongue firmly implanted in cheek to all my vegan friends out there. I did have a vegan "reuben" sandwich at a vegan restaurant once, and it WAS one of the most disgusting things I've ever had. The sauerkraut was good.... because it was sauerkraut. The seitan "pastrami" wasn't bad, actually, as long you didn't try to pretend it was pastrami. The snot they drizzled over it pretending to be swiss cheese was so gagariffic I actually did gag trying to eat it. I got it down, but I got a lot of angry looks from other patrons.

There's plenty of good vegan things to eat... just not the ones that try to be something they're not.

Yup. There is a huge range of Asian (I regularly do Indian, Japanese, and Thai) which is both vegan and delicious. I don't care for replacements, just flavor! "Cheese" is by far the worst I think.

So my lady friend is feeling well despite testing positive a few days ago. She's 46 and in great health though. Cross fit junkie.

Glad to hear it, Lantana. Best wishes towards a full and rapid recovery for her, should any symptoms arise.

Good news, thanks.

OT, but the orthopedic surgeon who repaired my knee last year said that repairing cross fit injuries is his retirement plan.

I believe it. Age, ego and adrenaline make for some stress fractures and tears.

That is a mental health condition I would suggest they get taken care of ASAP....

On the covid front, my Pfizer vaxxed buddy took 4 at home tests, all 4 were positive. He had a PCR test run last week the results came back positive today. Tomorrow he has an appointment for an infusion of Regeneron mono-clonal antibodies.

He seems certain he picked it up in a restaurant we ate dinner in last Monday. The dining room was huge - 20 to 30 tables - only one besides ours was occupied. It was at least 30 feet away. Fortunately, a week in, he's doing tolerably well. Some unpleasant symptoms but his O2 sat is holding in the high 90s. I've done 2 of the at-home tests - both negative. I plan to call my Dr in the morning about getting a PCR done, to make sure I'm not silent spreading.

If he's right, and judging by what I read, Delta may well have beaten at least some of the vaccines. So it seems we're getting close to being back to square one. The Major and I have gone back into a soft lockdown. And so it goes.

I hope your PCR comes back negative.

Vaccines aren't 100% effective but they are *significantly* effective both at preventing infections and reducing severity of cases in those who are vaccinated who do get COVID. Also boosters are on the way which may improve resistance against delta variant. My parents just got theirs, thank God, they're in my home state of MS which COVID is pretty well devastating thanks to antivax and anti-mask morons. ICUs are full, they're adapting parking garages to deal with patients.
