Right now I'm using some memory foam to fill in the headrest angle. I am, sadly, one of those who likes sitting fairly straight.

Well, I thougth it worth a shot. With the number of folks having the same issue, I would not be surprised to see an aftermarket solution in the near future.

I too am not a fan of the head rest but I think I finally have a decent seat setup so that it doesnt bother me that much.
Mine, towards the end, was struggling to go up hills and shaking violently at idle. I'm sure it could have been fixed but I didn't have the resources at the time. No one else was sympathetic to my pleas. It didn't help that the rest of the car was falling apart (rust, electrical system). Oh well...

If I had a garage... and training... and time... and money... for a second car...

Intriguing and fascinating story. Glad to find out what lead you to the FR-S. Hope you enjoy more of it and tell us in the future.

Separation

I've been visiting a friend up in Portland for the last few days. Given my limited vacation time and the travel distance, I had to fly and leave my car behind (so sad). Instead I'm driving around a 4-door automatic Toyota Yaris...

It's not like I've never driven automatic rental cars before, but having just gotten a new car, I'm more in the mood for comparison than normal.

The positives:
- The turning circle on the Yaris is pretty good. It is decently maneuverable. We took it around some of the curvy back roads and I felt it handled the corners pretty well. It is also pretty easy to park.
- The front of the Yaris is nice and short. It's easy to see where you are on the road.

The negatives:
- The steering. It kind of terrifies me. I feel like I'm barreling down straights with absolutely no control over where the car goes.
- The auto transmission. It takes forever for it to decide to accelerate, and then once it does it shoots forward because I've been giving it too much gas in an attempt to get it to actually go.

Other than that... the Yaris is a pretty typical sedan.

I miss my car, but most of all the low seating position and the wonderfully tight steering. In the Yaris I feel like if it goes off into another lane it's more the cars fault. With mine, I know that if it goes off into another lane it's completely my fault. I like that much better...

Naming

Disclaimer: Random silliness.

I’ve never been one to name cars, even though I have a personalized license plate. I’ve never thought of that as the cars name. Instead it’s always been “The Nissan”, or “The Prelude”. For the most part my cars have been known by their make and model, even in my mind. The FR-S though, is determined to be different.

I was driving home after dark Sunday night, after watching the new Spiderman movie, and listening to one of my favorite movie soundtracks. It was then, as I was listening to the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack (), that I realized the Raven FR-S is a Night Fury.

I decided it fits the car in looks and personality spectacularly; small and quick, but not overly powerful. While I probably won’t go around calling it that, the title has cemented itself in my mind

Took the first picture before leaving Costco. I was watching it and pulled over to take the second picture. Sadly there was no place to pull over right at 1000...

Annoyingly, most of the lights I hit on the way home were either green, or in areas where I couldn't really test the acceleration. The few times I did get a chance, I was pleased to be able to get up to the 45mph speed limit relatively fast and in 3rd. I'd gotten used to being in 4th or 5th by that point.

But... for the most part, the "end" of the break in period means very little as I'll probably just keep driving it like I have been, if only for mpg's sake. But, I don't think sedans are going to be out accelerating me anymore
