Muffler deletes sound great on the 86. Berk would give the same sound as any muffler shop taking the muffler off and welding on straight pipes.

Sounds great until you take the cats off, then you really need a muffler on the rear to tone things down.

No. The stock intake already draws air from a pretty good location.

More importantly, what you do on the exhaust end of the car isn't going to affect the intake side.

I will add another vote for a Berk muffler delete - I have their single exit, it sounds great and it's not too loud. Gets all the same compliments that folks with $500 catbacks get. I don't understand why anyone would buy an aftermarket muffler/catback for this car if they aren't ditching the resonator and cats.
