I've run almost all of the mentioned tires at autocrosses. The RE71R is awesome and what I've run most of the year. I drove on the different but probably as fast rival s a few weeks ago and was very impressed with them. They feel different than the RE71R but are definitely as fast.

It's way too early to think about what will be the tire for next year, but I'll be starting on the RE71R. I might try the kumho v720 unless something new surfaces.

If anyone is interested, Tire Rack has $70 off Bridgestone tires until next week.

It's just I could have written similar but I've only owned ZIISS.
I've run both the ZIISS and RE71R's this year, granted in different sizes but my comparision is the same... The Bridgestones are magic compared to the Dunlops, but at a little more wear rate. The ZII's snap more while the RE71's release progressively and controllably.

I have gone through 3 sets and many track days (non FRS) on 595RSRs. I love the bang for buck with this tire. I'm going to be upgrading tires on the FRS and don't know if I should go with something like an RE71r or stick with the 595RSR, which I'm familiar with. The price difference would allow me to put money toward other things like pads, etc. I appreciate any advice.

If you're happy with the cost/fun ratio I say keep using them.

If you're looking to up your personal limits and go faster, go for a faster tire.

Thanks for the tip. Fun to me is challenging myself and getting faster. Looks like it's time to see what a quality tire can do for me.

I've heard the Federal 595 RSRs were pretty good, but since they don't meet the minimum treadwear rating for this 2015 so no one who competitively autocrosses can use them anymore. IIRC when they were legal, they were good enough to win some classes at some Tour events.

They were in line with Hankook RS3 and Z2 performance, so I would still expect the RE71Rs to be faster though.

I've ran the RSR's and IMO they are good for the price but have issues with quality control (had two tires out of 4 I purchased that ome had a bad bead and the other was out of round) plus they aren't as progressive in terms of grip as the RE71R's.

The RSR's aren't as quick as RS3 v2's, but they are much cheaper. There is some decently big QC issues, lots of people I know have had issues getting them to balance (likely out of round), etc.

Depending on car and surface, the current battle is Rival-S or RE71R. Not sure what 2016 has in store though.

How does the AD08 compare to the RE71R for road course driving?

You'll get much longer life, but at the cost of grip. They're not really even comparable if you're wanting to the absolute fastest single lap.

a single fast lap is all the re-71r is good for though. I'd strongly recommend against using them for a track day tire
