Despite their marketing claims to lower your rates, I've always found GEICO and Progressive to have some of the highest rates out there. If you qualify for USAA, it's hard to beat them.

With USAA, I'm paying $386/6 months for comprehensive, with a $300 deductable, minus whatever rebate I get at the end of each year (I think it was $130 last year for our 2 cars)... Keep in mind I'm married, over 40, and have no accidents. YMMV.

With AAA, I'm paying ~$800/6 months for the highest coverage across, with a $500 deductable... Keep in mind I'm about to start college, under 20, and have no accidents. YMMV.

Big one though is that I have a BRZ over the FRS, and I'm on a family plan which includes other insurance bundles.

Edit: Just read this on 1/9/2016, and the premium I posted was nearly 2x the actual amount. The real amount is near $420/6 months.

We also use AAA for the house, etc which is a big deal. And there's cutback of 10% from having over a 3.0 GPA and multiple cars on a single insurance plan may provide a discount. My parents pay ~$800/year combined for their vehicles because they have no accidents on record, so since they aren't a liability AAA may give an even better discount (perhaps safe parents lead to safe children).

The funny thing is that if I had insured a new Honda Civic we would be paying at least $1000/6 months. (Ricer scene along with parts being stolen is my guess.)

True, but I've found the price I pay for the level of insurance I am given is an anomaly with the majority. I like to provide tips on how to lower insurance premiums without decreasing the level of insurance.

Stack every possible discount the company offers.

Mine has:
loyalty
good driver
3x policy stacking (auto + house + life insurance all w/ AAA)
multi-car
anti-theft
garaged
multi-driver
good credit

About the only way I can further reduce the policy is move to another ZIP code at this point.

Dam bastards, I just switched from Progressive after a price hike. I was paying $130 a month with two cars. It jumped to $190 a month. I'm a 34 year old one fender bender back in 2006, no damage on my car, only scuffed the other persons bumper. And been with Progressive for over 10 years.

I told rep all that while I was canceling my policy. There was nothing she could do to make me stay.

So currently I'm with Farmers. $139 a month with two cars. Still $9 more but hopefully it should lower as soon as they get my driving record.

This is discrimination against FRS owners. Just because I have little value for my Scion and drive it into shit without much worry doesn't mean I should have to pay higher insurance premiums.

Except this is car insurance not Tetris. If you need that many "discounts" then they are probably ripping you off. Oh and when you need them will they actually be there or will they leave you hanging with a gigantic bill?

I have had the best possible experience with AAA.

The discounts illustrate how absurd this discussion about insurance is as a whole.

USAA is awesome, it transferred down to my FR-S because of my Dad being a veteran and it being on the family policy with 5 cars, mines $340 for 6 months $100 deductible. I think the amount of cars on the policy helps and the fact no one in the family has never gotten into an accident, and when they asked if I have ever taken a drivers ed course I said no my Dad taught me how to drive and they still had it count as a drivers ed course, also Deans list designation at school really helps.

My insurance is:

$100 comprehensive deductible
$500 collision deductible

$100k/$100k/$300k liability & uninsured

$1413 is my annual premium

Recently I switched to liability-only as the car is fully paid off and I drive it once a month or so for track events. $510 is my new annual premium.

And I went back and looked at what I paid in 2013: $1391 for the same coverage.

im 29, clean record.

Currently with Geico and was paying 130/month for the GTR alone. Now with the FRS i just bought its 190. I'm almost positive they sent me a quote a few months ago saying it was 160/month with both cars.

Kind of makes sense though. just look at the age of people that buy the car and how they drive it.
