Around this time last year, I had already planned on getting a new car the summer of 2012. My search landed on this beautiful Toyota/Subaru love child and it was set in my mind that it would be the car I get. Around the beginning of this year, I was looking at my finances and other priorities in life and I figured I could save alot of money getting something else because I didn't NEED an awesome sports car. I figured, I'd just go with an xB because I like the practical space. What set me over the edge was a conversation with a friend who was set on getting the BRZ. It got me thinking about the FR-S again..daydreaming about us rolling around town together, twins on the road. I was like eff it, when am I ever going to get this opportunity to be part of the start of something big in the car world again? Haven't looked back since.

Mine was only a half impulse buy. I was looking for a new car but had intended to just test drive the FR-S and then do some research. I was doomed, though, when my local dealer ended up having the exact color and transmission I would have wanted I was the first one who wanted MT, everyone else was looking for AT.No regrets... not even a tiny one. |

It felt like an impulse buy but I've been following this car from the beginning. My wife actually pushed me over the edge to buy it. I was on the dealer's call list to let me know as soon as they got one in. I got the call on June 2nd, went there and test drove it and bought it that night.

I suppose you could call this an impulse buy for me. I'm 23, living at home with my parents as a college grad just trying to get a better job to afford moving out on my own (which by the, reading a lot of the stories on here I feel severely behind on my life because of all the people younger than me doing a lot better haha) and I didn't necessarily need a new car. I wanted a new car. The only reason I could even think of getting a brand new car, not another used car, was because my dad works at Toyota. I was looking mostly at the Scions because, to be honest, I didn't want a Corolla. I was thinking about the xD for a while because it was the cheapest but I kept flip-flopping on the idea because my current car was having issues and I wanted to make sure it ran flawlessly before I sold it to keep the value higher.
I will admit I didn't know about the FR-S until a few months ago and I know I loved it the instant I saw the teasing picture on Scion's website but I swore up and down to myself it wouldn't be affordable but then I saw the price and I pounced. Something more affordable would've been a better idea because of student loans, but I really wanted this car. I went for it. And I'm a frugal person by nature too. |

Well, I did it. Car finally arrived at the Dealer, and I got to pick her up today. There's a sense of relief somewhere, that I think can only be quelled by driving this thing... hard.
For those of you local, I bought this thing at Power Toyota of Cerritos. I can't speak enough of praise of my Sales Associate: Michael Quezada. I highly recommend you call him and work with him. He gladly attached my name to the Hot Lava FR-S, even without an $500 deposit. Never pushed me on accessories, and kept constant and honest communication throughout the grueling wait from port to delivery. Totally Legit. Tell him "Jared" sent ya. My Finance Manager, however, was a real hardballer. And in the end, he managed to convince me to get 7 year paint protection via Perma Plate Warranty ($350) and 5 year ding coverage ($500). Actually, he didn't have do do most of the selling; I convinced myself. ($15 extra a month to quell my OCD? Sure, why not.) Dat color, man. I swear. I'd do anything to preserve it's luster! (I know, I'm a sucker. -____-) Anyways, I couldn't be happier. It a strange way, it's surreal. I surprise myself every time I walk by and check it out, thinking to myself: "This thing is actually...mine?" Presenting... "SUMMER of 86"
