Drove one last night. I'll admit I haven't been in a GTS yet, but I really loved the minimalist feel of the GT.

That blue looks really really good!

All these pics are such a tease, can't wait to pick up my car already. I've just been told this morning that it's going to take a few extra days for my 86 gts to be ready which sucks major balls.. already made plans for a bit of a cruise this weekend but that won't happen now! >_<

Sashimi = Minimalist
GT = Cheap interior
GTS = Barely acceptable interior (clock from the 80's, open centre storage, no electric driver's seat with memory, no steering wheel controls, ...)

Check out the interior of something like the Veloster if you want to see what it should look like. The Koreans are beating the Japanese at interior design imo.
Even the Americans are doing better! And when it comes to interior functionality, there really isn't a case that better functionality and usability requires more weight. The same weight of silicon is required for a nokia as an iPhone, for example, despite the drastically different experience provided.

IMO, the interior is going to be this car's resale value achilles heel. I expect refreshes will revamp it. That's assuming Toyota have realised their interiors are one of their biggest weaknesses. And given they are part of the iPhone car integration programme, I imagine it's not lost on them.

i guess you know the purpose of this car and if the stuff you pointed out worries you then you probably should wait for the Veloster Turbo??!!

i like the simplisity of the interior. similar in concept to cars like the JDM Type Rs, GT3 RS etc. simple, functional and focusing on the driving experience.

Yeah I'm wondering the same. Hopefully that plate mount will come off and someone will make a slimline mount using the same holes.

it should be able to unbolt it and come off but there seems to be something holding the thing to the grill.

i hope this is not the case. if the holder comes off without any issues i'll probably try to mount the plate directly to the bumper. hope the holes will match but i doubt it. or cut the bottom half of the holder off and mount the plate like normal.

anyway who will see the car soon, please investigate this for the community.

thanks.

seriously? you want an electric drivers seat? you do realise they weigh a lot!. steering wheel controls would be pointless as im sure a few people would rather swap the wheel for a nardi DD...

im glad that they didnt include it. I wouldnt have paid for it. why put up the RRP for these extras which detract from the overall persona of the car..? I personally wouldnt wish for such additions

The electric seat was just one example, and not worthy of being picked on to underpin my point. Regardless, I was waiting for the "weight penalty" response. It's certainly not lost on me that it would add a weight penalty, so make everyone happy and have it as an option. It's a bit like the crowd who don't think this car should come with an option to select gears by using a flappy paddle. I think they're sadly mistaken as a result of being too narrow minded regarding the target demographics of the product.

I don't know what a "nardi DD" is, sorry. But I can assure you that they are not pointless for the majority. That's why the majority (all except the 86?) of cars at this price point have them.

If we wanted pure track day cars, we wouldn't be buying brand new cars, surely? Performance can be added relatively cheaply to second hand platforms. Instead, I pay for a brand new design that gets the balance between the various dimensions right. I'm not suggesting they haven't done a sterling job with this car. They have. And that's why I preordered one at the start of the year. But I'm also not suggesting it's anything like done yet. Particularly the interior. Having said all that, the GTS interior I have seen is a bit better than what I was actually anticipating, given the FR-S photos on this forum.

My 80's Honda has all the extra luxury crap, and I'm over it. I never use 90% of it, and it makes the car feel complicated and bloated.

I want a car to drive, and that's it. The GT does it perfectly.
