Good read. I feel very similarly about my other car, a 4-door mk6 GTI. As far as sporty cars go, it's pretty much the polar opposite of the FR-S:
- refined vs. raw - turbo vs. NA - FWD vs. RWD - DSG vs. 6MT - spacious vs. cramped They help balance each other out, and similar to you I think I appreciate them more having owned them together.

Yeah my bro bought a 2015 WRX and I love it! Just don't care for the seating and shifter, but other than that I love it.

Having another car to rely on other than the FRS to use daily is a huge bonus. I really did think about getting a really crappy beater for daily use but I didn't want to ever get stranded in the freezing cold or just the thought of possibly having to put a huge amount of money into an older car to keep it running just to get something newer later sounded wasteful to me.

Yeah, my neighbors are working on their car in the street. IDK why. Earlier today I was driving home and they extended their legs right into the middle of the street. Slowed way way down and revved up a bit to make sure they knew I was there and carefully drove around them. I'm not sure what they are fixing but it's been a 3 day affair now. I don't really talk to them but I can only imagine them looking over at my '14 FRS and BRAND NEW shiny WRX and being like "Fucking asshole."

But I do think that you probably owe it to yourself to check out the newer FA20DIT. I think Subaru did a fantastic job with the engine and the totally usable torque down low vs the FRS's 5500 RPM peak torque. It's a blast to drive but in such a different way. |

Funny story: I was coming out of a Best Buy one day and was talking to a semi 'Shady' looking dude about my FRS. As soon as he turned on his car my phone synced to his headunit which was identical to the one in my stolen Honda. Not really thinking much I figured it synced because they were the same model and I just chuckled. On my way home I had the realization that that was probably my head unit and I should have asked him where he got it so I could possibly track down who stole my ride. If I come across him again I'll probably inquire. |

OP: thanks for sharing. You're a lucky guy to own all that machinery.
For me, regarding the FRS ride characteristics and it's capability in the snow: - Maybe it's b/c I grew up driving old VW bugs, I adore the lack of cushy suspension in the FRS. I endlessly enjoy the immediacy with the road. But, I do find that many passengers in my FRS tire of it. That's why there's a passenger door. ![]() - I agree that the FRS can be adventurous in the snow - however with decent tires I find it surprisingly capable. But when the snow gets a bit deeper, I just call in to work and say "Not today". |

I bought a BRZ to compliment my WRX wagon. The two are great and they are definitely different. I drive the WRX more just bc its more comfortable, more powerful, more practical, (and in my case) less pampered. (Ie I can park it anywhere and not worry about door dings, etc - bc its not a new car.)
My only issue though is I miss having a V8 - which is a problem I'm working on rectifying. My wife has her car - the Subarus are my play things!
