She dropped the tough guy act and put on quite a performance (waterworks & all) when the cops showed up. Honestly, the responding officer even seemed to side w/ her version of the story. I offered to show him my dashcam footage but said it's not needed. He kept saying "the damage coincides w/ her version of events" (that I swerved into her lane). The damage is on the left of my bumper b/c I'm guessing she turned the wheel while braking. idk I hope I don't f'd w/ the deductible.

Here's a rough edit of a rather tame part of the whole ordeal. I've got my last final tomorrow so I gotta cram. Maybe I'll update w/ a more complete vid later & update a resoluton.

This past monday, i was going down 101 south after a short shift at school in Carmel. 40min into my drive a semi in front of me begins merging so i slowed down to 47mph, suddenly rideshare van floors it and attempts to merge between semi and me out of nowhere!...he realizes he wont fit, breaks hard, i creep half into white right lane, he punches it again, realizes semi is not picking up speed enough for his 60+ mph, so he is forced to cut me off as his lane is about to end (merging), swings, then jerks into fast lane then back to mine, breaking as he is almost hit by a fast yukon on left lane and i freak a bit so i downshift to 4th and break then punch it to right emergency lane grabbing some dirt to avoid rear ending him. Smoke from him appears.

What happens next? CHP appears not 5sec later, pulls me over, then asks me to wait, then takes off. 2nd CHP appears, lady asks me to drive up, we pull into where semi and van are. I stay in car a good 10min. Semi leaves. First CHP guy comes over, writes down my info (dl and registration), asks me if im racing, pops my hood, radios in and asks me if theres any mods. I reply no, all stock, even trd exhaust, then we discuss for 2min where i been and where im going, i show him my school and county id's, suddenly he treats me better. Finally, he asks me if i was speeding or racing again because van guys say i wouldnt let them merge but trucker said i was doing like 55mph and driving quite slow. I agree and say no to speeding and point at camera telling CHP i record when i drive and am willing to show him what happened. He asks to see my gopro, so i take out from housing, he grabs it and flips it over on its side. He asks me questions about it and shares he thought it was a radar detector. Then once hes done admiring it, asks if it records mph. I say yes. He gives back my dl and asks me to have a good day and drive safe. I dont know if van got ticket, but i do know im a dumb@ss. One, i had my gopro recording at 1080 while at work so battery drained parked and two, gopro dont record speed! ...least mine doesnt.


...lss/tldr camera like you got there is amazing. It can probably save you a ticket or insurance premium. Also, helps having a relative working for CHP.

car is fine. its purely cosmetic. Just make sure you check the crash bar for any dings, that should be your main concern.
