you can wrap the edges with soft/rubber tape. or just stick 1 or 2 small transparent rubber bumper pads against the edges

I would prefer if we didn't even need the front plate to begin with. Even now I don't really know of its true purpose, as far as I'm aware the enforcement cameras like red light cameras and photo radar track the rear.
