I find it surprising that people forget that the RSX Type-S and TSX require premium.

LOLZ...ten minutes too late. Gonna hit reply sooner next time!

I think the winner has got to be the RX8, especially since it's actually a sports car.

I test drove one when I was shopping for the FRS and they're definitely slow.

Nope, that aisin transmission cant take much torque. Would need to go with the next step up, which is like 60 lbs heavier. Probably need bigger driveshaft and axles And differential.

Its like saying, why dont they just throw a v8 in a miata and call it a day. designing oem cars isnt so easy. Theres a reason theres no >270 torque front engine rwd cars under 3200 lbs.

Supercharged Cobalt SS. I think it was around the 200-210HP mark.

Early 911 needed premium fuel with it's 2.0L flat six engine producing ~130 horses. The 911S bumped output to ~180 horses, definitely a kick in the pants for a 2,400 lb car but many people struggled to comprehend purpose of the expensive base model nearly 50% more expensive than a fully loaded V8 Mustang.

My truck has the KA24E, definitely does not need premium but it produces more torque than the FA20 by about 3 ft-lbs so lol.

While the TSX does require premium as an engine it beats the FA20 at just a bit over 200 horses and ~170 ft-lbs, not the motors fault it's in a pseudo luxury sedan. Same engine was in the RSX-S so no shame their and the Base RSX down at 160 horses took 87 octane so that doesn't count either.

The RX-8 with the Automatic was down to ~200 horses right around 3,000 lbs, probably the wimpiest modern sports car requiring Premium with a 7.5 second 0-60...

what counts as premium fuel? Apparently, japanese "standard" fuel is 90 octane or better.

so it would be hard to be slower than this 33hp kei car:

I wonder if any kei cars require japanese premium (>100 octane) fuel...

Hands down the SMART car requires premium. Bad fuel economy for its size and weight .

Actually Japan measures octane in RON instead of the RKI we use here. This means that their 90 RON is actually the same octane level as our 85 RKI. So 90 there is actually the same fuel as our "regular" and is not a "premium" fuel.

The Skyactive is a version high compression engine that doesn't require high octane fuel.

Cooper S added to the list, but all the Golfs are 93 recommended.

Here is what I have: (Car / 0-60 / 1/4 ET)

Juke RS 6.8 / 15.5

Mini S 6.1 / 14.7

FRS 6.2 / 14.8

RX-8 6.3 / 14.9

Civic Si 6.1 / 14.6

Miata has required premium since 2001. Sure, you can run lower on it, but it does the same crap the FA20 does (i.e. pings everywhere and limps around).

This thread is going to be difficult because people are going to expect the lowest HP to be the slowest car, and it won't be...

Bingo. Even their "Premium" isn't any higher than our 93. It's a big dumb world when it comes to octane ratings...

Is300 requires premium and slow. I had one before. Not sure if tsx or rsx is faster. Is integra GSR faster ? Gt86 is not fast but definitely not slow either. I owned 3 240sx before and I am sure my brz can over take my 240sx.
