I'm not saying all the Miata is like that, but same money you spent on AE86 & Miata, you get a lot more hp/goodies out of it from Miata then AE86... but something different about AE86 more time & money you spent on AE86, you love em more and more. Well, with most car you spent time & money on, you get to love that car more than any other faster/powerful sports car out there.

Am I wrong on this?
actually your right, miata was mass produce more than AE86 SR5/GTS and S13 240sx combine in the US. The good thing about miatas is you can open any car sales page like craigslist, auto trader, cars.com and ect you can find them, they have alot of after market support. bad thing about them is you may or may not like soft top, people regard them as a girls car or homo sexual choice of car.

Usually I dont advice people to buy a AE86 as a first car or if you haven't had any idea what AE86 is all about, sure the AE86 have a lot of things to offer but has an equal price to pay.

You can always put hard top cover on it... as for girls car or homo sexual choice of car part... well, can't do anything about that.

Gonna get some info from my buddy and post it up. The one he has is clean no accidents and no rust. I will definitely post up pics and stuff before I move on it. Lucky for me a few buddies have parts galore for these stockpiled in their garages... May be a good project yet.

Nice project man working on an AE86 is pain ........ but is really fun, and once I opened your thread, my altezza powered 86 came into my mind

I really miss it so much! I'm currently looking for another ae86, but this time no tuning/modifing as these cars are getting extremly rare in the middle east (only less than 1200 examples were sold back in the 80's) God know how many left now as I encounter 1 ae86 every 3~4 years now
I'm getting one and keep it as a jap classic in 100% oem condition no more racing an ae86 these are rare now.

I wish if I can, but if I'm gonna import a car from outside my country its gotta be 35yrs old and above (stupid gov)
also I see some of you guys have to deal with the rust issues! cars here in middle east have no rust (even for a +30 yrs old cars) as we have no snow (thu we have to restore those cracked dashes due to sun heat)

Mine was rust free dash was okay too as the previuos owner had some shade for his car
