I know nobody believes me... but my crickets were fixed several months ago. South Coast Toyota recognized my chirping when taking the baby in for routine service. When we were chatting about it, I mentioned that I've read about newer gen pumps not fixing the issue. He told me that they just had a third revision pump come into stock and that it should work.

It DID work. Even with e10 91 octane. No chirping in summer or winter.

What was the date on the TSB? If it's October 2013, it's still a bad pump. I even have a picture somewhere with the part number when I got it done. Mine's chirping like hell right now with the 75-80 degree temps we've had the past two days.

I got it replaced sometime around Oct 2014 actually. The service coordinator gave me the impression that they just received this new revision.

There will be a new TSB released soon for the crickets. Lady at the Subaru Dealership said its official from SOA, just doesn't know when it will be released. She did say it would not be worth it to replace my fuel pump now though so it should be coming down the pipeline soon.

how many miles do you have on the new pump? is there a part number or anything on the invoice to help us find out if it is indeed a new revised pump? my crickets didn't show up until 3,500 miles or so.

Guess I'll be waiting for springtime for it to warm up enough that my crickets come back. The good news about this is by then, we should have a better idea if this is a good fix or not.

It does seem heartening that Toyobaru is still trying to fix this issue.

I'll keep on eye on this thread. Here's to hoping yet again. I just got completely let down in Oct. 2013 to the point of saying, screw it. I think the newer pump is worse than my original they replaced after listening to both videos separately.

Each time its something new that they are trying. One of these times, it will work. Stories like yours, however, make me glad that I didn't jump on the "replace the pump" bandwagon years ago.

Yeah, I sacrificed my car for a Corolla for 3 days (Which wasn't bad, I actually like the Corolla for it's purpose, but it's no FR-S) for them to do an absurd insulation. It looked like a production piece and was designed to go around the fuel lines and wrapped tightly around the fuel pump and covered a big amount of it.

Didn't even really muffle the sound after a day or so. Once I heard it chirp loud, I just removed it because if anything, it was keeping heat in. Good effort, but no followup on, "Hey, how's it working?"

Mine too. I'm guessing winter blend fuel + warmer temps exacerbates the problem.

I usually can't hear unless I have the window down, now I can hear it in the car with the windows up.

('15 BRZ with 3100 miles, crickets showed up about 400.)

I honestly think is is just an inherent design flaw. Even the 2015's still.chirp.

Hmm it's been a while. I will have to dig up my service record to see what mileage it was installed at and if it lists the part#. I can grab that soon

Finally got a straight answer from a different service manager. They are currently testing a new design of the fuel pump, and it should be released by the end of next month. In the meantime, I have my 4th fuel pump getting installed this weekend =P

pump was installed 7/17/2014 @ 17500 miles. I have 25000 miles now, so it has been 7500 since I've heard crickets.
