Believe it or not, most courts in the U.S. do not accept e-pay. It's a valid thing to do if one works during court hours (Mon-Fri'ers) or 'ease of payment' (although one runs the obvious risks and headaches that come with that choice)

You just sent a check in your GF's name? Nothing else to ID who or what it was for?

Assuming that OP sent the check out, just because it wasn't cashed or processed, he shouldn't have to pay the price for the courts incompetence. So to everyone saying you need proof of process which is completely out of his hands at that point is not helping at all.

So what's the better solution?

Who said the court is at fault? What if the postal service lost the payment? What if the address was written wrong on the envelope?

The proof of process is meant as a backup to validate completion of this process. If there's a better way to resolve this, please do suggest it.

Oh s***. I run the same setup and make all kinds of noise. I better be careful.

They probably got tired of it and were mistaken and got you instead of me.

I wholly disagree here, and you'll find that the courts will as well. The burden is on the defendant (or accused/admitted guilty) to reconcile their accounts with the state. Not the other way around.

Ya no shit!
The "cheque is in the mail" has been a running gag for decades!
Wouldn't it be sweet if you just could say "well I paid it really" and walk away.
