I am sure a production version with custom parts would be just as nice as the mini. That is a beautiful job for just using standard parts and random bits for other sets.
Surprised nobody has said they want that intake, exhaust tips, shift lever, etc.!

Sure maybe a RS.1 version but then everybody will rag on you and they won't like the colour, and why would you pay extra, and why isn't it turbo, and blah blah blah!

or maybe the guy who built the proto can just make instructions and ill buy all the parts and build it myself?

Unfortunately, that is a very costly way to go about it. When I designed this FJ and 5th gen 4Runner, it probably cost me $30 in parts alone and they are relatively simple minifig scale cars.

You'd be $60 or $70 in on this car unless you had a pretty extensive Lego collection to borrow. I have well over 100k pieces, but I would probably still have to buy some to build his design.

Woa I love Lego! I'd totally buy a quality Lego release of our 86 if it were done in a similar way to the recent Mini. Would look awesome on my desk at work

I'll buy only the turbo model.

I love how the tail pipes are dead on. Now when I look at my JDM tips all I'm going to think is "lego "
