I'm not in first gear unless I'm at a total stop. If I have any forward motion at all, I'm in second.

Repost cuz I wasn't joking LOL hope the info will help.
For shifting at lower rpm, rpm drop form 1st to 2nd is about 1k, just shift into 2nd a bit slower unless u are pushing it pass 4k. At higher rpm the rpm drop is more rapid so it's naturally smoother in shift. From 2nd to 3rd is about 800 drop in rpm. 3rd & above is about 500 drop in rpm. This is just how it is on stock flywheel. Also another thing is.............if u wanna get used to shifting really smoothly try put the speedo into km...... don't ask me why lol. Cuz u can switch into 2nd at 22km, 3rd at 33, 4th at 44, 5th at 55, 6 at 66.........and ur rpm will sit like right about 1.5k to 1.8k. lol Don't forget the gearbox is designed in a country where ppl use km instead of miles. |

Now for the zen moment of the day:
Just keep driving and don't think about it. Thinking about it will lead to jerky shifts. You have to just do it. Eventually you'll have a really good shift, and you'll say, "Wow, how did I do that?" Then you'll start thinking about how you did it, and you'll jerk the car all over the road trying to recreate it. You won't do it again until you stop thinking about it and just drive. As the zen koan goes, "Do not think of a monkey." The only way to not think about a monkey is to ignore the command. Likewise, the only way to avoid jerky shifts is to not think about jerky shifts. |

OP, thanks for posting. I also have this issue, so the discussion has been quite helpful. I find thos to be a particular issue when car is cold, and I'm trying not to rev so much it bothers the neighbors (just from looking at the car they all think I'm crazy anyway).

I have found that lazy low rpm shifts are harder than they should be for a stock car. rev higher shift faster all will be well. yes even in traffic with partial throttle just rev higher.
