Actually I spoke too soon...

I got this one: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Clek-Olli-Booster-Seat-Jet/dp/B002YGSWZI/ref=sr_1_12?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1338826134&sr=1-12"]Amazon.com: Clek Olli Booster Seat, Jet: Baby[/ame]

I liked how I could easily detach it should I need to remove it for an adult to hop in. Watch the vids if you're considering the boosters. Very cool product!

Its the same seat, with central lock release I can reach both latches easily, so I skipped that

I have tried fitting a peg perego rear facing infant seat in the back seat. There's little to no room left for the front passenger. Initially my intention was to trade my Miata in for a more practical car. The FR-S was out of the question. Finally wound up trading the miata in for a 2012 VW Golf TDI 4Dr. Maybe in a few years when the baby gets a bit older, I'll pick up a FR-S or the BRZ. I'll post the picture of the peg perego car seat later for comparison.

Yeah, I figured that if I needed to act quick that central release may help... May just use it once, but at least I'll have it! From taking my daughter's car seat in and out I figured it may save my back from some crazy positions trying to reach things.

I did not take pictures. But I have a chico fit 30 system and it fits with my wife in the front.

We had it rear facing. My wife who is 5.1 maybe 5.2 was a little snug in the front for sure. She said she would not like to do long trips sitting like that. any accident and her knees would have been crushed. Her car has the recaro seat in it and we maybe get one for my car when my boy is big enough to sit forward.

I installed a Diono Radian R100 facing forward behind the driver and a Graco SnugRide 32 facing rearward behind the front passenger.

I've attached photos so you can see how the Diono seat looks like it was made for this car. Since I'm about 6 feet 2 inches tall, my three-year-old son sits behind me with his legs crossed or resting on the center cupholder area.

The Graco seat latches into a base that stays in the car. This feature allows me to remove the seat, buckle my one-year-old into while it outside of the car, and then snap the seat into the base. It requires some strength to lift the seat into the car with the child in it, but I imagine it could also be difficult to get a baby into a rear-facing seat that was already anchored in the back seat of the car.

I might not enjoy this setup if I had to use it every day, but I think it's great for an occasional trip. In a pinch, I have even fit a 5'8" woman in the front passenger seat with both kids in the back.

When my one-year-old outgrows the Graco seat, I plan to replace it with a second Diono seat. Then I can move the larger child to the passenger side for more leg room since I rarely have a front passenger with both kids.

With this strategy, I hope to keep "living the dream" for many years to come! Maybe this info will help someone else do the same.

Glad to see these options. I will be carting around my four year old daughter and 6 month old son in a couple months when my Subaru VIP program comes in and we have moved to North Carolina. I agree with the previous poster about the shoes but was wondering if anyone had found a more elegant solution to keep the back of the front seat clean than the generic plastic covers I have seen so far. Thanks for any input.

Something like this? Guess that is an option.

Graco Snugride 30 (?). Not much room for a passenger, but at least I can pick up the kid from daycare. When the carrier is not in there, the seat slides all the way back.

This is a rear facing seat only - not a convertible one. It fits, is level and I can click the carrier in there. Not ideal, but more ideal than trading this in or getting another car.

I use a Recaro Probooster for my 5 y.o. daughter and she loves it. Fits perfectly in the bucket seat.

Has anyone shopped for a car seat yet? Many are only available online which makes test fitting or measuring in person impossible before buying.

Thanks!
Sorry I cannot help out. I have tried numerous child seats and none, absolutely NONE, fit me. Maybe it is because I am nine years old.
