Ya know, part of me has always wanted to go ham with a nice mild na build. Grimmspeed intake, Crawford blocks, e85 flex fuel dyo tune, on top of my gruppe s headers. Thing is that's like another grand to drop on a car not including the suspension I'd want to do lol. But man a proper 200whp frs with a fat power curve sounds really appealing.

Sure do at a couple gas stations. Thing is anytime I go outta town I have to do a reflash and run the tank dry and all that. Kind of a pain. Flex fuel solves that obviously but I have another car taking all my money rn lol.

No luck in my part of the state, and as much fuel as I burn at the track I would be carrying an entire barrel with me

If you are staying NA, then the blocks are worth it. With header, air filter and tune the car runs well for a DD. Going FI no need for blocks.

Looks it may deliver a real performance gain for a modest cost. Having looked at all past discussion, the experience is mostly positive.
Only two further points to be high-lighted: (1) Be careful with installation, damage to the gasket may lead to vacuum leak; and (2) Surprised that the fuel efficiency declined after installation (this may be caused by an over-ethusiastic end-user). |

I see that the prices vary wildly depending on brand. Has anyone tried the cheap ass ones? True that the profile, flatness and seal slots can be lacking in quality. Thickness of the plates could be different too. This is exactly why I ask. $250 vs. $100 is pretty significant!

Does the red 2017+ have longer runners than the previous stock manifold? If so, that could be confirmation of the general concept being valid - if Toyota/Subaru saw the value...

But... The total of the intake, manifold, exhaust and internal changes in 17 came to a 5HP increase. Why on earth do people think they are going to get more than that with just some spacers?

Ah, so that I did not know. Has anybody done any testing on a 17+ to see if spacers do anything at all?

It seems to lower the power band and you can feel it. I am pretty objective when it comes to the butt dyno. However, it’s not earth-shattering, by any means. Since I am staying NA, every little bit can help. If you are not into modding yourself I would not do it. I personally would not pay the labor plus the part for the gain. |
