So after you have the stock tune loaded in the OFT; you are going to "Write" and it is saying, "Mode file not found cannot create a running file?"

Has the car ever been tuned? I.e. the "stock" tune may not be an actual stock tune?

Was it used?
I only ask since this is very reminiscent of the issue another user was having after returning to "stock" tune with ECUtek: Same Error Message

Follow steve99's advice in the post if this is the case.

Please keep in mind I only offer these as suggestions, use them at your own risk.

If you are truly on a 100% factory stock tune:
If you have the stock tune loaded on the tablet, I would load the OpenFlash Manager software on a PC and plug it in to update the software and then try flashing to the ECU once it's up to date. Alternatively, you can delete the stock tune and try reading it again as long as you haven't attempted a write to the ECU (just to ensure you aren't reading a non-stock tune.)

In regards to downloading maps, the OFT came pre-loaded with maps v1.59 (I believe) if you purchased it within the past ~2 months. So you wouldn't need to download maps. But there are v2.0+ BETA maps available, which I use myself and can be downloaded from the OpenFlash site. You might want to try the newer maps once the OFT and car are married and you are able to write to the ECU.

Most important thing is to NOT interrupt the OFT when in use as this can cause serious issues.

Are the Write and Read options greyed out when connected to the car?

When uploading maps to the OpenFlash Tablet, you can only upload maps that match your CAL ID which is the last four digits in the CAL section on the Upload screen. See the following tutorial video:

Find someone local who has experience, buy them a beer, and I'm sure they'll be willing to show you how to do it.

Also, you can try calling the shop you bought it from or oft and see if they can help you.

I can understand the frustration but let's keep a cool head for now.

Are the Read and Write buttons greyed out when connected to the car?

Also when you say turn On power, you mean just accessory power and not actually starting the car, correct?
At no point during the flashing process do you start the car; only accessory power is turned on.

Have you tried deleting the stock tune and re-marrying it by reading the original tune again?

Are you connecting the OFT and then selecting Write before turning accessory power on? I.e. the write process is being followed according to the instruction video?

What is your CAL ID?
