Same, I don't even trust jack stands 100%. I always leave my floor jack in place as a just in case for my jack stands.

I don't trust jack stands, ramps, or jacks alone. I always use a backup. When I installed my header the other day, I used jack stands with ramps under the front wheels just in case. Always better to have a backup just in case.

I agree with you guys. Thanks for all the tips and let's see how it goes this weekend. I hope it doesn't take too long and I don't run into issues. And yes, WD40 over all nuts before trying to unbolt them.

I actually didn't need any WD-40 or PB-blaster. Everything came off with just hand tools. I did already have a Perrin header - back exhaust on there though. The 6 header nuts should come off pretty easily. You may have issues with the header to OP nuts though. I didn't when I installed the Perrin over a year ago, but the car was pretty new back then. Make sure you have a wobble extension for the middle driver's side header nut.

I just finished installing the Tomei UEL header in my garage (no lift, flat backed it with the BRZ on 4 ramps). The only thing I have to add would be to use a 14mm crows foot to re-install the 2 inner flange stud nuts since I could not get to them properly with any combination of wobble heads/sockets, 1/2 or 3/8 drive.

The crows foot with an extension worked perfectly and allowed me to use the torque wrench. Going to heat cycle it a few times and re-torque before I put the skid plate back on.

Tomei UEL header cold start and revs after warmup

Tomei UEL header with the rest of exhaust stock (except for tips). Only other mods are OFT Stage 2 UEL tune, TRD drop in air filter and Perrin silicone intake tube. Other than cold start, it's hard to tell that I have a header by the volume alone, just has that "boxer rumble" now. Happy with the results.

Bumping this.

With regards to the included heat tape, are you guys slapping the whole sheet on the oil pan? How about the rubber components in that area? Within the header's vicinity, I notice there's a couple of rubber hoses and then there's the engine mounts. Would it be a good idea to apply some heat tape around those parts as well?

I just used it on the oil pan and thermostat housing to keep heat from transferring to the oil and coolant. I don't think you will melt any rubber that is not in direct contact with the header, but certainly something to watch out for.

Sorry to bring this back to life, but for those than installed it did you loosen the spacers at all before bolting it up, or did it come pre-spaced and matched? Going to install this hopefully over the weekend, just wondering what other's have found.

I'll be installing my Tomei UEL headers in a few weeks hopefully. What are people's opinions about the Tomei gaskets? I wasn't sure if I should pick up a set of Grimmspeed gaskets just to be safe or if the Tomei supplied gaskets don't have any issues.
