I feel bad for trolling.....

I am sorry for my previous comment....sort of. I'm not usually a troll. So here comes a bit of drifting advise from a previous 350 whp S13 owner.

- Watch the drift bible (as mentioned)
- Go to a HUGE open parking lot (Preferably without lights or ANYTHING you can hit.)
- Start driving as usual and get up to second gear. Start doing controlled circles to the left. (Normally people are more comfortable going this way.)
- Feel the grip level and get comfortable.
- When you think you are ready push in the clutch and keep the revs up.
- Dump the clutch. Be prepared to correct (turn to the right) when the clutch drops.
- Control the car with steering keeping the revs in power band and at a consistent rpm.

This is an introductory to drifting by way of the clutch drop. In no way do I condone this activity.

Since I did not post anything useful today try this:
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmVQPijOwWc"]Drifting in the Scion FR-S with a Formula D Pro! - Wide Open Throttle Episode 34 - YouTube[/ame]

It's FRS related obviously.

that sounds easy for you all, is it possible you or one of you able make a video for hundreds of others like me that don't know how to drift????
Just watch the Drift Bible. It doesn't matter if there's a GT86 in the video or not since he teaches you how to drift in cars with all types of characteristics. A car with heavy under steer, a mid-engine car with massive over steer tendencies, a low power car, and a well balanced car. He covers all basic techniques, which don't change just because we drive a Toyobaru.

Number 1 advice in this case though, is to listen to people. Weed out all the crap on this forum and find people you can trust/believe, whether it's on this forum or people you meet at drift events, and listen/learn from them.

100% THIS!!!^^ Don't learn in your gt86, get a $500 junker and trash that learning first. Go to the tire shop and get a pile of used tires and burn 'em up. Remove the latch on the E-brake.

Drifting is not as easy as watching a video and repeating what you saw. Get your ass in your car and practice. That's the only way to learn. If you wreck your car ask your parents for a new one.

A good way to learn the car is trying to find events at a local track. A good example is one like the Dynamic Driving Academy @Moto-P occasionally hosts here in SoCal. It's always a good experience to see someone go from not being able to do a 180 in the morning to doing consistent donuts and figure 8's by the end of the day. All in a safe environment and usually with professional drivers on hand to help instruct students.

Live for speed has a free, demo, but it doesn't include access to the Lotus 7 clone or any of the good cars.

If Gran Turismo, then it will have to be 1 or 2, as the rest of the nanny'ed the physics so kids could play with RWD cars without crying to mummy. Ruined that game they did I want my TVR Cerbera LTD back!

As to drifting the GT86, I haven't yet. Too damn scared I'll nerf a kerb and cry. I have got it to the point the steering wheel is straight but the car is still turning on the throttle, but only with the VSC on, just exploring what it will let me away with trusting that if it breaks out into a full slide the VSC will reel it in before it meets a kerb. Had the tail pop out a few times, but VSC has collected it rapidly. It does make wet roundabouts interesting.

Funny how the rx7 never made it to 2002 in the US.

Go to the drifting thread under the track section of the forum. Many people have already asked similar questions to what you're asking and it's not like anybody in here is making any real contribution.
