I'm in the same boat…I hate whiteout. Been on and off with the car due to paint match or lack thereof.

And foglight are only there until they crack….then brake ducts take their place

To me it really is just a car. Sure I wouldn't want to push it off a cliff but I bought it to enjoy it and drive it

Properly maintain it and don't worry about minor cosmetic issues. Door dings and bumper damage doesn't stop me enjoying my car from the drivers seat. You have very little control over other drivers and people. Your car will spend a huge portion of its life unattended where anything can happen. Parking at the end of the lot is the only "OCD" thing I do but then I do that with any car.

Keep calm and

First door ding did it to me, I went "oh, huh, oh well" and went on about my business. People were mystified, in the year and a half since then I've kind of treated it like crap, hopefully this summer I'll give it a good detail job and touch up the defects that have developed but other than that I'm just concerned with keeping it mechanically sound.

Honestly, I'm kind of over it. It's a fantastic car, I don't think I could ever sell it unless it became a money pit, but it doesn't have any 'magic' you know? Turn in is sublime, handling is magnificent, rowing the gears and zinging to the redline is the best I've ever experienced and putting your foot down to power out of a turn is exactly how it should be, planted but a little bit of drama if you're not careful, but if it was taken from me tomorrow I wouldn't buy another, I'd go exploring. In the words of Monty Python "And now for something completely different"

I have zero regrets buying it, I guess I'm just chasing a unicorn or something, idk I'm stupid.

After 12 months i still don't get it.
I won't leave it parked anywhere , because there are a lot of 4wd truck drivers around here that sit so high , that they cant even see my daily camry and bump into it.
Truck and bus drivers are sitting so high up , that they can't see pedestrians and low sports cars.

It's just a car...

that's holding me over until I can satisfy my Porsche boner.

Honestly, no other car I'd rather own and drive right now that I can realistically afford other than a older 911 or somewhat recent Cayman S.

exactly... Everyone is in a different financial position, and this car is accessible for a number of different people. For some $25k is play money - for other's it's more of a struggle.

Personally, I took my car out for a "drive" with my driving buddies around some of Austin & the Hill Country's finest driving roads after I hit the 1k mile mark. I got all kinds of rock chips & little dings from rocks being kicked up.

All my friends asked me if I was upset? nah...

I was enjoying the car & what it was meant to do. But at the same time, I'm not going to be stupid and park it in places where it's more likely to get scratched/dinged/etc... I take pride in whatever car I'm driving & despite my cavalier attitude during a "drive", I don't want unnecessary scratches/dings - shit just looks janky...

No, I'm not one of those guys that will drive a cheap car everyday to preserve their car, that's no fun. I don't want to own a car that i can't drive often, I'd modify it so. I drive my cars, hard as they are supposed to be driven. But i take care of them, i wash them, wax them and make sure not to park next to anyone if at all possible.

Cars are meant to be driven, if you don't want to put miles on your car...just sell it. It's pointless to own a car you don't lust over unless it has a specified purpose for work and so forth.

I love all type of car enthusiasts, but the only ones i dislike are the ones who don't want to drive their car. I know first hand what happens to a car when it's not being driven often and it's practically cancer.

You guys in warm climates have it easy.

I DD my FRS through three different construction zones, in the winter with the shit ton of salt and rocks they put on the roads up here, and I have always parked it in the "general population".

My front bumper is a shit-storm of chips and nicks. I'll probably get it repainted in a couple of years if the construction ever finishes. I also have some nicks in paint from other random flying rocks. My Dr Colorchip kit will take care of those.

All that said, I still wash it regularly to keep it looking its best. It's still a blast to drive and unless you get right up close to it nobody will see any of the small nicks in the paint.

In the end, it is just a car.

I had a nicer car before this, so I've been much less stressed about this car.

That being said I was still pretty uptight about it for the first year, but then my GF started driving it more (we only have one car right now) and I had to let go.

You can't let someone else take your car everywhere and still be anal about it, you'll never sleep at night.
