The altezzas (is300) had a problem with their manual transmission. I'm not sure about max figures, but I know people said the transmissions real jerky and hard the drive. Most said they wished they had the auto if they would've known.

Is that the Altezza/IS200 6speed (With the BEAMS 3SGE) or the IS300 5 speed (VVT-i 2JZGE)? The 2JZGE powered one had the W58 5 speed shared with the non-turbo Supras, nothing special maybe good for 300 lb-ft.

Don't know anything about the 6 speed except from what I've heard here that it's the same (or same family?) as the ones in the RX-8, Miata and S2000.

I've texted around to see about this fact... and it's nothing to do with tranny. Actually the oem clutch is the main problem and not the actual tranny. When people tune their engine some of them forget the upgrade the clutch. Oem clutch Lexus use cannot handle after certain hp (they said is250: 260~300, is350 turbo it) and it start to slip like crazy.

Yeah, Altezza's 5sp is using Supra's W58 tranny. I'm trying to remember 6sp is... but I can't remember

I know the IS250 tranny code is A960E and A760E.

I'm with Dimman I want a tranny that is at least a Lil over built because I also no matter what will be turboing this car, but the S2K tranny is ok but if you've ever road in or driven one you know that first gear is a waste, given I know it's your "get started" gear but honestly they should have extended it a Lil on. Power wise I don't think tq will be to much of a problem seeing as it's a boxer engine, but then again look at some wrx's done right, decent amounts of hp and tq, so like I said a Lil overkill on tranny would not hurt anything, would actually be in toyota's favor

My .02

wut?

I agree with you - it's be nice to have a tranny that handles 300-350 ft*lb, but I think that any more than double the stock engine, is just adding unnecessary weight. If you're going to spend the money building the engine, you can afford a gearset and clutch. I'd also say that shift feel is much more important to me than tranny strength - I don't want it to feel like a clunky T-56!

A big rear axle is something I'd like to see, I think it's much easier to justify overengineering a diff. (and sometimes quite hard to fit a larger one in!)
