As for drama, I agree that the base 911s are a bit plain, but the high end ones pull it off quite nicely, in my opinion. I think the wide body on the turbo/GT3 gives it that bit of extra excitement that the base car is lacking. I'm a big fan of Porsche though, so I'm definitely not unbiased in that regard. http://www.diseno-art.com/news_conte...2-1024x665.jpg |

The wing adds a lot of drama to the GT3, which I like, but I'm a huge vent junkie and kind of wish they'd violate the bumper a little more. Doesn't have to be gaudy, make some Aston-Martin-like transmission cooling vents at the bottom of the bumper or something, then put small openings near the bottom of the fender to feed air to the engine and vent.
Strangely enough I would keep a 996 unmolested, because I like the low key look. The 991 however screams for attention IMO, it's got those super long skinny tail lights, the fat hips, and much more obvious engine vents. I think a small spoiler extension plus a few low key vents would put it at the right level of attention getter. |

I don't know - the 993 doesn't do much for me. I prefer the look of the newer ones (especially the 991), or if you want an air cooled car, I think the 964 looks significantly better.

964, 993...doesn't matter. Can't afford an air-cooled Porsche!

It's called unified design language. No auto company wants a car that gets mistaken for another car companies creation i.e. the Toyobaru getting compared to Maserati or Ferrari while a nice gesture is a nightmare for their marketing department, instead of getting an influx of people seeing how 'cool' Toyobaru's products can be they go off thinking it's something else. I'm totally cool as long as we eventually see 'improvements' (fuck Alfred Sloan's yearly model changes), say what you will about Porsche but that car looks modern, it looked modern fifty years ago and the newest one still looks modern today.

I was at the porche dealership when I was shopping for an Audi (They are right next to eachother) just to be nosey in 2012.
The salesman showed me the "new" 911 and proceeded to tell me how they spent millions of dollars in redesigning every panel. I looked at him and said "Sometimes you just wonder where all the money went.". |

Personally I hate the cookie cutter platform for car makes. I blame Nissan for bringing it into the Japanese market with the stupid 350Z/G35. Each car should look different because each car IS different. This is why the FR-S/BRZ was such a breath of fresh air to the industry in my opinion. I understand that BMW and Porsche have been doing it for years. I guess I'm just sad to see other car companies follow suit. Personally to me though I like when people ask "what car is that?" as opposed to "that's definitely a Lexus/BMW/Porsche etc."

eh, yes and no. A chevy cobalt bolt is the same bolt going into a new corvette. A lot of cars different companies
share multiple platforms with other vehicles that people don't realize. its sad, but you see more brand loyalty now more than ever. Not so much in our case driving the 86 platform.
