Dealer would've wiped it with a dirty oily rag... Should've done it yourself

You know what...I also got the cargo tote, which they didn't even bother to take out of the packaging (let alone assemble it) and just tossed it in the trunk, and when I got in the car there was a damned empty coffee cup in the cup holder too!!

...I have NO DOUBT if they'd bother to wipe it down, it might've been with a dirty oily rag if that was the first thing on hand!

A coffee cup? Really???? There is no reason for anyone at a dealer or any shop to have any drink inside a customer car! That is so unprofessional!
It probably won't do anything but if I were you I would be calling the factory and reporting all of this about that dealer. Hopefully they would bust their ass so maybe they will straighten up so the next guy doesn't have to go through what you did.
I would take off the mudguards and clean everything real good. The salt that was there is now in the bolt holes and it won't be long before the rust starts, then you will have a big mess to get fixed.

Well, I just sent off a rather nasty email to the sales guy and his manager about the whole ordeal...Next is to post the same on the review sites they so eagerly wanted me to post to when I originally said what a great guy the sales guy was.

It's a damned cliche but so true, the sales guy is all over you until the sale is done...then any follow-up or follow-through good luck finding them again, they just pass you off to the next guy.

I agree that is bs and usually how it goes great until the car leaves. I've learned to never let anything be slated for after a deal is done. Kind of like an employee puts in his 2 weeks notice. That last 2 weeks he is 90% worthless. Any promise after the deal you can pretty much forget about.

I will also share a bit of story on the flip-side. I run a bodyshop. 3 out of every 5 cars we get are filthy and the customers expect them 'new' upon return. I've had guys come in for job that required us to repair only the hood. They will come in with there truck, un-washed after mudding like it is cool. This was the case during the first of the year on a customer's 2004 f-250. It's not cool and in this case we ask the customer to pick up the vehicle and wash it in which he declined. I had my guys simply unbolt the hood, wash it, repair it and paint it and reinstall it. I had them clean the fenders simply to verify the color match was acceptable. I'm not about to have one of my guys stand in our lot, washing this truck by hand early January. He would have easily spent 1/2 a day to even get it to an acceptable condition assuming he didn't wash it to reveal damage/scratches that the customer then would likely blame on the shop.

Dealing with near minimum wage workers doing these installs. Usually they dont care about quality let alone cars, but if you are paying them do it right, not half ass. Complain and get your money back.
Exactly

Certainly can understand your perspective on this.. As people always think something is owed to them. I always clean my car before I bring it in for service.
Hoping that whoever handles/works on it will respect it more knowing it's cared for. It's also easier to check for mishaps and abuse as well.. But if you don't care about how it looks.. Don't expect others to treat it any better..

That's like when I used to work in a shop, we would have customers complain about crazy stuff and try and get us to fix it for free. Like we would do a front brake job and they would come back a week later saying their brake lights didn't work and we must have done something doing the brake job. Really? We were no where near anything electrical, but they didn't understand that and wanted them fixed for free. We had crazy stuff like that happen all the time.
