My god... these subie dealers are crapping all over corporate's generosity.
I think the "Sound Shield, security..." bs is a standard fee that they have to charge. I will confirm with them.

The ONLY extra fees you are required to pay (and the dealership is required to charge) are the AMVIC, A/C, and Tire fees. The "documentation" fee is pure profit and if you're paying full retail for a car you should NOT be paying the doc fee. AMVIC is 35 dollars, A/C is 99 and tires are 16 so that's 150.00 over and above the MSRP and Freight/PDI.

The old trick is to have the documentation fee pre-printed on the bill of sales to give the illusion it's non-negotiable.

Wow, what a load of nonsense.
Surely that is some 'negative option' charges to catch out people who don't question things.
Also if that is the first you have heard/seen of those options, that is really dodgy behaviour.

That's enough to make me talk to other dealerships really.

Locking Wheel Nuts: $ 60.00
Block Heater: $395.00 (Est.)
A/C Levy: $100.00
Enviornment Levy: $28.25
Sound shield, Security Etch & Nitrogen: $895.00
AMVIC Fee: $6.25

+ GST.

Does that sound reasonable? What's the Sound shield, Security Etch & Nitrogen fee???

Thanks!
$400 for a block heater is pure thievery.

Here is the sales manager response to "What is the $895 fee for?"

"The $895 is our value added package that comes with every new Subaru. Since Calgary started using salt on their roads, customers have seen the value in having their investment undercoated to prevent rust from eating away at the floor of their vehicle. It also reduces road noise and harshness by 70%. We also put an acid etched sticker on the paint surfaces of the vehicle to prevent theft. This is a $5000 benefit to you in the event your vehicle is stolen and not found within 30 days. Lastly, we fill the tires with nitrogen to prevent leaks with the fluctuating temperatures in Calgary. It also helps with fuel consumption. In the event you have a low tire, it uses more gas then if your tires were all filled to their rated PSI."

Hmm....I think they are very creative.

Of FFS. Ya I'd definitely try another dealership, that explanation is almost worse than not telling you. What a bunch of nonsense and to put that kind of price tag on it too. Feckers.

You should ask them for proof (ie. pre application, post application decibel level tests) on this 70%road noise claim. Also what the hell is the 'harshness' part? They putting new floaty suspension on while they are at it?

Etching it to hasten recovery, not prevent theft, otherwise they wouldn't have this 30 day $5000 bonus. Hey great my car got nicked, but they haven't found it after a month... I'm getting a bonus! Who pays it and what is the procedure to get compensated?

So the tyres on the car arriving from Japan will be refilled with nitrogen? Ya that's not something you could do yourself, if you could be bothered.

This is a perfect example of why stealerships get that tag. Shake your hand with one arm and stab you with the other.

Are you kidding??? Are dealerships still using this moronic tactic? What's more important, are people still falling for it??? I have a buddy who took in his kid's bike to the dealer for the final signing and asked them to cost the underside of it too, since it could also suffer from road salt. Needless to say, they didn't seem too amused. And no, he didn't get the undercoating. LMAO

Lol, then you can be creative too. That clearly is not something that the factory does and since the dealerships have not even received their deliveries yet tell them not to put that shit on your preordered car .

Subaru dealers knew that we would pay these "fees" because the demand is so great and as Canadians were used to companies gouging at us(ROGERS). Based on this I believe that most dealers are charging some sort of "fee". Looks like my $500 for admin and registration is looking like a good deal compared to $895. Anyone else have been charged for some sort of unknown "fee".

It's probably not even BRZ exclusive I bet it gets added to any car sale they can get away with.
