I got my exhaust in and installed today! I want to have the design completed by this weekend. Also I do not need the diffuser to extend as far back now.

Rainy day. I have to make the fins next. This is smaller than the mock-up and follows a curved profile. I will also not mount this to the bumper. I did not round the rear of this because I think it is unnecessary for a test piece.

These pictures really show the two sides to the original.

Is this second mockup going to be flat with a kink line and slope up, or curved?

It's hard to visualize what is where, from the cardboard template on the floor. Looking forward to more pix.

I am pushing for the curve.

A friend just brought up the idea of making a molded part. Hmmm.

The exhaust cutout was purposely left unfinished. I also left the excess area on the fins just to keep it strong in its cardboard form. It is curved, but relaxed in this pic. And I have to trim end down. I cut on the wrong side of the tape.

EDIT: There are two more smaller fins between the outer fins.

Everything is glued together now. Now I have to position it and make the mounting brackets.

Nice, interested to see the results! What are the differences between this and the Driveway Labs one? Seems like more of the same, just an observation.

On a tangent, can you not post pictures side by side? Its annoying to have to scroll three pages ---------> just to see the rest.

Pretty happy with my Driveway Labs one. Making your own is cool and all but make sure it's unique enough before you start selling

The two main differences are that mine does not extend past the "fake bumper diffuser fang thing" and that it is curved. My design uses welds instead of rivets. In the rear, mine bolts to the car, not the bumper. My fins aren't as "look at me". They are smooth and better flow with the shape of the car (opinion). Keep in mind that the extra box edge is just a result of adding material for strength purposes. It is cardboard after all.

I'm not interested in selling. This is for me and is tailored to my Tsudo exhaust. I mean if someone wants one, I should be able to have more made, but I do not intend on modifying my design, so fitment would be their issue.

A general update:
1) I haven't heard back from the machine shop. I'll try calling on Monday.
2) I got the forward mounts designed and mocked up.
3) I know what the material cost is. I still have no idea what the fabrication cost will be. I'm aiming for half of the cost of the DWL.
4) I will try to have the mock-up mounted to the car tomorrow. I just have to finish the rear mounts.

Yet Another Diffuser Thread

One fin got a bit crushed and the driver side has a fold (it was a box after all). Aside from that and the fin shape, this is pretty much how it will fit. I need to move the inner fins in slightly too.

I have another really cool idea to play with, but I'll just keep that to me right now.

There are lot's of stable points under there. Although the tape was there, it was mounted on 3 out of 4 corners.

I'm loving the descreat look of it, hopefully it functions as good as the driveway labs as there's was aero tested via Fluid Dynamics
