Ah~ gotcha... either way, it doesn't matter to me IMO. sweep is cool and all... but it doesn't effect my driving one single bit lol

Good thing the FR-S doesn't have a gauge sweep! It got old really quick with my motos.

Not sure why someone would shutoff the sweep. I have it on my STI and while it's cool, I hardly notice it on startup now.

The Gear indicator is neat though. Yeah, it does the upshift thing, but that's easy to ignore. I just think it's really cool that it will display the current gear for the manual transmission.

So the FRS doesn't come with tach sweep but the BRZ does?

I like the tach sweep, it's sort of inviting. my mom's xD has it and it's like starting a video game aha.

I would be surprised if the FR-S doesn't.

I checked the manuals, and they only list the G-on/G-off function, no S- modes.

Doesn't seem like the Scion has it.

To me it's one of the most harmless things in a car... Like, hey look this thing has full range of motion. I can see people not caring one way or the other, guess I'm just a little surprised people would care enough to disable it. To each their own though!

S is for the tach sweep. G is for the gear display & shift up indicator.

The shift up indicator isn't the shift light, it just tells you when to shift for the best fuel economy.
Being able to turn these things off and on when you want -- that's the best part. So cool!

To each their own of course.

According to the manual:

The rev indicator (red line shift light) is different from the shift-up indicator, which I think is where some confusion comes in. By default the rev indicator is enabled and so is the sweep, but the shift-up indicator is off.

The shift-up indicator does not have a sound and it does not use the red line shift light by the tach, it just displays a gear number with an arrow where the gear number is normally shown and indicates which gear you should be in for the best fuel economy. Each time it changes it flashes three times.

On both the manual and automatic the current gear is always shown and this cannot be turned off. This is a separate function from the shift-up indicator but displayed in the same space.

The rev indicator flashes and there is a buzzer when the red line is hit. It can also flash and play the buzzer at an rpm before the red line (2000 - 7400), which can be customized. Even if it is customized, it will still flash at the red line. The buzzer can be turned off with the rev indicator light still activated, or both can be turned off.
