Hey guys slightly off topic but I got this small dent on the top of the driver side, and it has started to rust. Anyone know how to fix this kind of thing?

I was planning to get some touch up paint and clear coat from Toyota/Subaru. If I just paint over it, will the rust continue to grow?

Thanks for the help

drcolorchip.com recommends this 3M sanding pen on rusted paint chips.

Found it in their FAQ section under the "surface types" drop down menu.

Never add touch up paint over rust! Clean it first no matter what.

too soon to know if its permanent, i got it about 2 months ago

Fine grit sandpaper and get down to bare metal. You also need to make sure you get back into what looks like good paint to make sure you get all the rust. When you finish sanding, the area on a small nick like that should be at least twice as large as when you started. Dry it thoroughly and apply some primer immediately to seal it until you can decide whether to paint it yourself or have a pro shoot it.

It's been too long since I did my own work. I have no knowledge of current products, sorry.
Any decent parts store should be able to set you up. If you have it painted professionally they'll probably sand it off and start clean anyway. The sanding and priming is just to stop the rust while you decide what to do. Rust is car cancer. You need to excise it immediately so it doesn't spread.

Anyone Know where I can get some of this in Canada? I have tried 2 different Canadian tires' auto section but couldn't find it. some other forum had said we could find it in Canadian tire.

Thanks
