I bought the car with 3k and the previous owner might have used them the entire time of the 3k when je had it or possibly put them on right before selling. I swapped them out with plenty of life in them at 11k because spinning out doing a u-turn wasn't fun if I didn't have control. |

Mine were fine *until* they went "off", after which time they were the absolute worst tires for grip I've experienced.

Should keep in mind the unique characteristics each tire has as well. If you just want more grip, you don't need the craziest tire, just something better. I run the Falken Azenis RT-615K+ as long as it's above 50 degrees f. Better than stock in the rain, better than most non r compound tires for flat out grip when heated. I've been running different revisions of this tires since 09. I've had the Dunlop StarSpec Z1 (before they became priced like a Michelin tire), I've ran Nitto NT05 and Yokohama S. Drives. There's one conclusion I've come to. You need to run them to find out the characteristics you enjoy most. I have no doubt that from watching people run the PSS it's the best all around tire. I love the sidewall stiffness on my Azenis for turn in, I also like that it does not gradually give away and slide prematurely, but it's very bad if you don't know the limit of the tire.
I'd honestly recommend going through some cheaper tires with different characteristics, and see if jumping from one set to another, you find yourself noticing nuances you enjoy or don't enjoy. $350 a set for cheap tires that will grip better than stock will be a better investment than $750 for a set you don't like and can't really re sell. |

It does make the car so much better all around - particularly in the wet! I’m told these particular Bridgestones are a bit soft and won’t last as long, but I got a greeeeaaaaat price on them (35% discount) so I can live with that.

OK Group. I can get any tire at 5% over cost and want to spend around 450-500 or so on a new set of summer tires. What you all got out there that you like?? Either a A/S or summer tire is fine too. I'm in the midwest so it does get hot out in the summer.

As the MP4s is unavailable in the UK in our OEM size I have decided to contact Michelin UK to see what's happening...
Response from Michelin: Unfortunately the MICHELIN Pilot Sport 4S is not available in 215/ 45 R17 , and it does not appear that they will be launched in this size any time soon either. MICHELIN is happy to accompany you on every journey and would like to thank you for your confidence. I have General G-Max AS-05 245/40-17 size. Winter was just fine, rain traction is great. Summer driving is good too. Price is great, I would buy again.
