That's still such a weird issue. I have only ever filled up at shell with 92 and never once have heard the chirp. @2500 miles on an AT if that matters. Have had some other weird stuff though

Considering Toyota stated there is no issue, I'd say just put in E10 from name-brand station.

My BRZ was making the cricket noise, and I consider it an issue, regardless of what the official company line is. A few miles with ethanol free gas shut the crickets up. From my personal experience I recommend ethanol free gas for the BRZ and FRS. That's just my two cents.

I've run 3 tanks of Ethanol free fuel from 2 different stations, still had crickets. Sometimes even with the E10 I don't have crickets.

I don't think the crickets are a result of Ethanol, I think it's an intermittent issue and the sound going away (temporarily) with non-ethanol is a coincidence.

I think there's a lot of placebo options floating around out there when it comes to what "fixes" what.

If someones wants to float me $100, the Shell station by my house sells 101 Unleaded Octane race fuel for $10/gallon. I'd be happy to buy that and report back!

there all 92 octane in the metro area.

some non-ethanol gas stations seem to have higher octane gas

if anyone is interested in running non-ethanol gas and where to purchase it at check out http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=OR

One of the best places for gas is the Costco - not because it's any higher octane, but because they sell it so quick it's fresh. I get the least amount of knock on the turbocharged n/a subaru with their gas.

The main issue is that the car runs way too lean in the initial rpm's, it's something I've noticed right off the bat. Pings like hell, and it's not because of gas quality.
