Where did you hear this? I figured it would be the other way around since the JDM model has bigger tips.

The bigger tips are an option or something...
There was something posted that said the Japanese one had 197bhp while the US one had 200, because in Japan noise regulations are tight.

I think this is one of the few cars that I can remember where the base model wheels look better than the +1 upgrade.

Tada confirmed it. USDM would get the "better sounding exhaust" that would also bump hp to 200hp instead of 197hp. You can search the forum for it. I think we talked about it during the fall sometime.

Wasn't their this member from Hawaii that owns a S14 but has an S15 for a display pic that took a pic of a white BRZ with those "16 wheels?

He started a thread on it, I think titled "look what I found" or somethin lol

Technically Hawaii is US and if its here new, it must be USDM

Edit: I stand corrected, he is from Japan, but he was in Naha Okinawa, Japan

only the tips are bigger. the overall diameter of the pipe is probably still the same.

That hasn't been confirmed yet. All the USDM estimates I've seen are inline with the JDM estimates + 11.88 gallons (73.062 lbs.) [90% full tank] of gas.

While we're at it, let's compare the Canadian cars as well. Someone said they don't have nav? "This is relevant to my interests."

I thought the USDM limited is getting this.

JDM version gets stitched padding surround around the door speakers and sides of the center stack. USDM gets hard plastic.
