Thanks for the input guys. I'm glad all the responses were quiet understanding despite the bold tone of my original post.

I'm just a little curious. You seem to know a lot about cars and is a car guy like us but how come you only learned about the FT-86 a few months ago? It seems to me that Toyota did a pretty good job advertising this car for a couple of years at least.
Response: TBH, I did read about the car from autoblog when it was still in speculation phase a couple years ago, but didn't bother following up on it due to my extremely busy school life and mainly an overall lack of expectations when it came to new, exciting cars from any of the once impressive japanese giants. Now that I know a lot more about the FT86, I must say that I'm glad I only found out recently. Props to those of you out there that waited since day 1 with the same intensity that I had since a few months ago.

i agree... Toyota and Honda are 2 key players that have avoided this market... shame on them! at least now Toyota is finally listening.

Why no mention Subaru since you are in the Subaru section? You troll?

To be fair, yes, Subaru had a large role and is the one manufacturing the car, but Toyota made this car happen. The lead engineer, the design, the layout, the dynamics, the inspiration, the philosophy.

It's a Toyota built by Subaru, if you get the drift.

Activates flame suit.

I like how people think owning 17% of the company means you own 100% of it.

And I like how people ignore the concept of the Chief Engineer.

This argument isn't going to go anywhere, it's like giving your mother all the credit for making you plus your twin and forgetting your dad had a part in it.

The S2000 was a super niche car. No tilt steering wheel. Small trunk. OK gas mileage (not excellent), you really had to rev it to get anywhere, and only in manual. It was noisy and sounded like things were broken, LSD, loud transmission/engine (if you were used to a civic). Also the bump steer problems didn't help...

Add the fact that they didn't really make any significant adjustments to power, and those are the reasons why it eventually went the way of the buffalo.

I loved mine because I liked all of the things people hated about it, and it was my "dream car" at the time.

But I never wanted a convertible. The BRZ/FRS philosophy is very similar to the S2000, but it's a hardtop, a more practical version that in some ways improves over the S2000. It's a bit more livable and as I get older, that's a good thing.

I think it's far less track oriented than the S2000; coupled with the automatic transmission that should help sales. Not that it matters, this is an "exclusive" car anyway.

No but our mom (Subaru) is best. Our father (Toyota) just donated the sperm. Our mom nurtured us and made sure we got the best.

STi, EVO, 370Z, Mustang Cobra, and more are in the s2k's price range. Yes they are in some way inferior, but the same can be said about the s2k being in some way inferior to each one of those cars.

I was wondering when somebody was going to say it. I never lust for the s2k as much as some guys because it was only good for one thing. I like more than one benefit to a car or else it isn't worth the money IMHO.
