First he didn't pass due to safety requirement, but one of the shop helped him fix that problem. IIRC he said that, he was 3.2 sec off to be in the pre-pre-qualifying.

He wanted to try out next yr... but he got married and IDK what happened to him. Maybe I should contact my bro to see what happened to him.

I'm pretty sure they aren't running the old N2 rules.

The old N2 rules didn't allow 20 Valve engines or GT wings, so I bet there are no rules in the new races. Also, most of the original N2 parts are now very rare and expensive if you can find them, no very conducive to building a new racer.

actually the rule says you need to use a 4ag motor NA & 20V is a 4ag motor, GT wing was never in the rule and diffuser, cuz no rule about GT wing & diffuser so thats open. rule book is mostly on safety cage and electrical, all of the AE86 N2 is parts are still on sale brand new till now. If your in to AE86 just like me, oldskooltoy and others who love this car you'll know who and where to get them, yes they are expensive but thats just how it is, this are real racing parts made with high quality parts and engineered for real race cars.

TRD N2 kit (I have the rear wing)
TRD LSD w/ final gear 4.7 (I have the LSD)
TRD gears (I have it)
TRD short throw shifter w/ knob (I have it)
TRD pistons
TRD valve train
TRD head gasket
TRD crank & rods
TRD ITB's and carbs
TRD brake pads
and more
me and my brother is building our dream N2 AE86 true AE86 love

I really don't want to argue the point as you seem confused, but the N2 cams pistons, carbs, etc are all for the blue top engine. The 20V wasn't even invented when the AE86 was running the FIA N2 road racing class.

Also, I'll give you a bit of advice on race class rules. If it doesn't say you can run a part (e.g. a GT wing), you can't. It makes writing rules pretty simple and is why everyone writes them that way.

who's arguing, im just interpreting the rules of the toyota sprinter cup as best as I know, as far as I know 20V is a 4ag motor and the rule says you can only use a 4ag NA motor, it didn't say only 16V. as far as the GT wing rule didn't say you can't have one also, even the tires no specific mention about type of tires or how wide it should be.

will you say, you can't use a AE92 4ag motor just cuz its from an FWD AE92?

Wow heatin' up.

Anyways, I was watching this vid:

Looks like the basic regulations for Tsukuba N2 race were (in the vid 6:00-ish):
  1. Engine must me 4A-GE(NA)
  2. Curb weight must be 780 kg or more
  3. Roll cage must be 6 pt or more. No Aluminum.
  4. Side bar is requirement
  5. Both door must be original (cannot be different material)
  6. Door lining must be genuine.
  7. Exhaust note must be 120 dB or lower.
I'm pretty sure there's more for the Original N2 Race.

Back in the day JFA had a road race class called N2. A complete modified car was "speced" for the class. The AE86 was allowed to run all the N2 specified parts.

Here are the original AE86 FIA N2 parts, they did not make small port or 20 valve versions:
http://www.club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_...d%204A-GE.html

The N2 KP61 Starlet that raced in the class before the AE86 did not have a 4AGE.

The new "AE86 N2 races" have little to do with the classic race class other then the use of a car that ran in the original class. They are just playing of the nostalgia by using the name.
