Not accurate because those cars use a 14mm lug BOLT, not 12mm stud.

Well ok then. I don't know how much more wrong you can be. I just went onto discount tire and on two separate screens I looked up the Audi tt and the frs.
Other than a few sets of wheels it shows 57 sets of drag wheels for the frs and 80 for the tt. Same patterns and model. Similar results looking up konigs. 10 vs. 13.

..............

Sorry, I'm wrong. I should shut up.

PCD = the diameter of the imaginary circle in which the lug holes/studs would sit in. So 5x100mm is the same as other 5x100mm cars... in theory.

In reality, you have to differentiate between wheel STUD (our cars) versus wheel BOLT (VW/Audi/most German cars).

Wheel bolt usually are 14mm diameter, meaning the holes in the wheels are drilled for 14mm. Thus, the conical surface of the bolt is usually wider.

Wheel studs are usually 12mm, and that's why most Japanese cars have lugs that are 12x1.25mm (Subaru/Nissan) or 12x1.5mm (Toyota/Honda).

You can run a wheel drilled for 14mm wheel bolts on a 12mm stud if given the proper surface for the wheel lugs to sit (or conversely, if you ran the proper lug nuts that can sit in the wheel safely, see most OEM Lexus lug nuts for an easy reference)... but you cannot do it the other way around.

Some wheel makers (especially the ones that are cheaper) drill for 14mm and assume the buyer (you) know what you are doing.

Ok that makes sense. Thank you for clarifying. I have been in the tuner car game for 20 years now and I try not to assume I know everything. This is why I like forums. There is still a ton of shit I don't know.

The problem is, we're all relying on forums. Even relying on a website isn't going to help you... I work in ecommerce (Newegg) and people would go apeshit if they knew all the errors for computer components being listed...

Fitment guides don't tell the enthusiast a thing.

I don't rely on forums for detailed information, and most of my wheel/tire/suspension knowledge was me installing 20+ different combinations of wheels on my own car before settling for what I wanted.

With the internet, there's just too many "living vicariously through others" and not enough interest in going out there and experimenting on your own. The aftermarket wheel industry will eventually catch up to FRS/BRZ owners... as long as there is interest. It's still very much a business, and those that plan well (design/production/marketing/sales/execution/warranty/etc/etc) will see a good response from end users.

most people in vw market switch to special "bolts" to accommodate the standard lug seat on an aftermarket wheel. or switch to wheel studs that allow you to run a standard lug nut.
also your stock lug nuts dont have the correct seat on them for aftermarket wheels either.

Correct, however they convert to a 14mm stud and not a 12mm stud, so the problem I described above still persists.

We're listening, I've been talking to several wheel companies to bring more 5x100 wheels.

mine were a 12mm stud... 14mm on the hub side and 12mm on the wheel side.
in fact i have a set waiting to go on my rabbit track car when the cage is done so i can run aftermarket wheels. i would take a pic but they are a long way from home at the shop.
link to a set on ebay.

I should have been more specific. I know about the different seats, but Subaru lug nuts are tapered and every set of wheels I've used (across 3 Subies now) have taken tapered nuts. You said that the stock nuts don't have the correct seat for aftermarket wheels, and that is just not accurate. It's too much of a blanket statement.

Better to say "make sure your lug nuts work on the new wheels." Besides, after buying a set of wheels, lug nuts (if needed) are chump change.

i have not seen that confirmed. i know aftermarket is 60 degree. i havent found anything confirming that the twins are infact 60 degree from the factory.
