I have Neova AD08s, although one of the weird reasons I chose them over others is I love the look. The tread reminds me of clouds from an anime or something... hahaha.

Hey, I don't really want to create a new thread for such a similar question, at the same time, I don't want to jack your thread...
Hopefully you get something out of my question as well. If I were to stick with stock wheel size 17x7, is it worth it to switch tires? Like the OP, I'm not doing too many mods. I just want something that performs a bit better. Should I just leave the stock rubber and then upgrade to 17x8 after stock wears out? I've only gone to a few track events, but I enjoy spirited runs etc... and am considering some decent tires: PSS RE11a V12 rs3 Rivals question becomes, is it worth it to get these nice tires on only a 7width wheel? as an aside, are the sidewalls of v12's really that soft and bad? Thanks! OP, if you don't like my invasion of your thread, let me know and I'll start a separate one. |

I think the car loses a good chunk of its playfulness at street-legal speeds with grippy tires like those. Unfortunately daily-driving this car requires something that is adequate in the rain. The minute I pick-up my new DD this summer I'm re-installing OEM Michelins on my BRZ.
So, if I was doing it again, I'd go for something that maybe has a touch more dry grip and loads more wet grip. Not sure what I'd pick, maybe some re760s or BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2. |

Swapping tires on your OEM wheels is fine. A 215 on a 7" wheel is not the most ideal, but if you just want to focus on driving, then changing tires will be fine. On a side note, getting more camber up front also somewhat saves your tires from track use. We got nasty wear while on just crash bolts and stock suspension at -1.1 degrees of camber. |

I have S04's and I'm pretty impressed on their grip in the rain (and dry obviously).

I just read a Tire Rack review of EHP tires including the AD08 and RE-11. On their tests Yokohama is the "sportier" tire especially in dry performance while Bridgestone is the well rounded one that's better in the wet and in terms of comfort and noise.
The cool thing about the test is that they used the exact tire and wheel size that I'm planning on getting! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=118 For now I am inclined on getting the RE-11. |

I think it all depends on what you want to do...
If you want to drift at non-deadly speeds, then stay with stock tyres. If you're like me, then go for wider sticky rubber and love the incredible increase in grip which makes your eyes bulge when you push it to the limit. I was unsure, so I put my foot in the water with a set of wider wheels and cheapie Federal 595 RS-R 235/40-17 semislicks, and I love them!! They're 140 rated, so they probably won't last too long especially with my driving style, but what the heck - you only live once!! Next time I could go Advan AD08s too - if they're available in darkest Africa - LOL. For me, the increase in pleasure (and safety) which comes with stickier tyres is definately worth the shorter life and additional cost.
