The dealer I spoke with also mentioned the 500 cars per month. Not a surprise as they obviously have the same regional SOA rep, but it is discouraging.

I still find it difficult to believe that Subaru would design almost the entire car, build it in their factory, and then give Toyota/Scion a huge majority of the cars being produced.

Edit: Just read that the Evanston dealer is claiming to be getting 15 cars in the first 6-7 months. That confirms to me that the 500 # is BS. If this Chicago dealership gets 2 per month then that means more than half of Subaru's dealerships won't be getting any cars at all. For obvious reasons, Chicago will not be the top market for this car which means that some dealers in CA and the south will be getting even more than 2 a month which means a huge portion of Subaru dealers won't get any cars which doesn't seem likely.

That is 6000 cars a year. Sounds about right. I bet Scion will only have about 500 cars a month too...but Japan (Asia) was like 1000 cars a month right?

So:

Europe 500 cars a month Toyota 86
Europe 500 cars a month BRZ
North America 500 Cars a month BRZ
North America 500 Cars a month FR-S
Japan (Asia) 500 cars a month BRZ
Japan (Asia) 1000 cars a month Toyota 86

Total 3500 units a month = 42000 units a year...I seriously doubt they will even make this many...

It will be more like this:

Europe 250 cars a month Toyota 86
Europe 250 cars a month BRZ
North America 500 Cars a month BRZ
North America 500 Cars a month FR-S
Japan (Asia) 500 cars a month BRZ
Japan (Asia) 500 cars a month Toyota 86

2500 units total a month X 12 = 30000 units a year worldwide...more likely..

Folks be prepared to wait....especially for a BRZ.

Nissan sold over 30k 350z in its first year. Mazda sold a similar # of miatas back in its first year. I would expect supply to at least meet demand which might not be 30k cars but definitely more than 6k.. If not they will lose a lot of sales which they will never get back.
