The 3" exhaust is new item. they don't have them on their web page yet. I got it from the Perrin Meet on saturday at the Perrin shop which hosted at Hillboro, OR (30 min from my house)

The one on their site right now is 2.5", the tips are 4". The difference is the pipe diameter, it's 0.5" bigger on the 3" system.

would one have to get a full 3" system (front pipe, over pipe, etc) to take advantage of this exhaust? (this is an exhaust noob question obviously lol)

any news on pricing if it'll be more than the 2.5"?

Either way, it won't make much difference on a naturally aspirated car. It could even give less power than stock because the exhaust velocity will drop. With a turbo or supercharger, however, it will be wonderful, especially a turbo. With a turbo, you'd probably want to go 3" all the way. Or 4".

lose power?any clue? It is Perrin.

I only can feel my car is getting better on acceleration after the exhaust installed.

I thought the Perrin 3" sounded similar to my nameless 2.5". Maybe it's because he still has a 2.5" overpipe/front pipe and stock headers. I'm guessing 3" from headers all the way back will make it louder. People don't really need 3" diameter unless they are going to get force induction and boost it quite a bit. I installed it and did it with just 2 rear jack stands. Install was easy as you there are only two bolts, two clamps, replacing the gasket, and moving the hangars to the new unit.

According to http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=67 it produces a couple more horsepower than 2.5" systems with no low end loss.

In other words, well within the margin of error. I presume this is on a NA setup. For FI, it'll largely depend on the FI setup and until you get rid of the 2.5" bottleneck in the frontpipe, too soon to tell what the gains would be.

According to PERRIN's site, the 2.5-inch system is $855 for the brushed, while the 3-inch is $999, but currently on sale for $950.
