I'm done defending the S. It is what it is. It set a precedent 10 years ago and it's taken automakers that long to catch up with it. It's an incredible piece of production machinery that again, took others 10 years to catch up to. If you think that's for high school girls, then I'm sorry.

The S2000 isn't a manly car by any means. It's a car completely about the driving experience. Once you stop worrying about what people think of you in your car, and instead think about you in your car you'll really appreciate a fine automobile. It's the most enjoyable car I've ever owned to this date and it kills me that I'm out growing it both physically and in terms of needs.

You sound like me about 6 years ago, defending the 86 against the masses of people who hadn't yet found out about it. (This is Tennessee after all)

Back then I got wierd looks from the Honda-ricer guys and the thumbs up from the few drifters that were marching around town.

Nowadays I got all kinds of wide-eyed looks and thumbs up from the Honda kids, and the 240sx 'drifter' guys? Drive right by me without even a notice.

It breaks my heart.

i think there needs to be the distinction made between a "convertible" and a "roadster."

and the Miata was what, 10 years before the S2000? the S2000 didn't start the roadster phenomenon. sure it gave it more power, but it wasn't as innovative as some would have you believe.

Glad I'm not alone. I've seen people excited about the "cabrio" FT or whatever.. I'm sitting there going "Uh.. no, I'd rather have a hard shell over my head. Take your leather elsewhere."

I think this car would be kinda like the mustang as a convertible. It just wouldn't look nearly as good without a roof.
(Wow. Almost sounds like I'm saying mustangs look good.. let me make this clear. I'M NOT. football helmet-shaped hood = not sexy)

(Oh, wait.. let me clarify further. When I say "mustangs" I mean the newer mustangs. When I say "Old school Mustangs" I mean the old ones, which.. were pretty sexy.)

I agree with you...the S2K is a street legal track car. Most sports cars back in the day were convertibles. I prefer coupes but there are exceptions and convertible performers do exist and I believe the S2K is one of them.

Just delete the convertible top and throw a Spoon HT on it. Problem solved.

Sorry but it's apparently the closest thing that the FT compares to. Get used to it.
