20 kg difference, softer front springs on the FRS - shocks get changed even in stock class autocross, as do swaybars.

I am not sure. Using it a track car only is my primary reason of buying it. However I do not know if I'll wait yet or buy it and build it later.

To the OP, which class are you building the car for? SCCA, NASA? Why turbo on a track car?

Like many here, I will buy this car as a DD and weekend warrior. Will do simple things, brakes, etc, nothing crazy while still under warranty.

This. My personal choice would be a high mile 18-19k C5Z. Take that, cage it, toss whatever suspension your sanctioning body allows under the car, and spend the rest on your consumables.

No one is doing it. I like setting the trend if I have the cash might as well do something new so that the whole community can reap the benefits of my experience.

Right now I am most likely not going to compete in SCCA. Our area has their own autocross classes and setup which I will most likely be competing in for points. I may do NASA events on occasion but they are out of my area. I do like my HPDE days as well.

-Turbo Kit within a few weeks

These are just my goals just wondering if anyone else is doing it this properly as the car is meant to be treated!
Good luck, might I suggest waiting till the second year so that the majority of the little bugs get worked out, they could be big or small but we won't know till the car is mass produced

Look at the GT-R from 2009 to 2010, not a bunch of huge refinemts, but some pretty good ones as far as the trans tuning and certain seals changed

Very good points but thru out my build I am sure we will run into issues so well see what we can come up with !

Either way can't wait.

+1

To be honest I have no idea whether this car will be a dd or weekend fun. I'm planning on buying a Supra within the next couple of months and then the 86 2-3 years from now. Hard to tell atm.

Lazy, lazy... you just copy/pasted that from the PH thread you posted on

I like the appeal of the FR-S/BRZ as an all-rounder (trackdays/daily driver), like Honda's Type Rs but RWD.
That said, if you have the cash and want to give it a shot, looks like you've got a great attitude about it and some genuine goals in place
Best of luck and I look forward to reading your threads once you start tinkering!

Well, props to kanundrum for being a trailblazer, that's for sure! If he's got the cash and enthusiasm, let's try to help him on the right path.

IMO, talk to Racecomp Engineering here on the forum. They seem very knowledgeable with suspension setups and are looking into some high-end quality solutions for the FR-S.

Here are the basics for your track toy:
*Gutted interior, SCCA-spec roll cage [or similar], fire suppression system
*proper race seats, 6-point harnesses, HANS, window nets, arm restraints
*Call Goodridge and get stainless brake lines made
*Call Carbotech and get brake pads made
*Swap all the car fluids with Motul, Redline, or equivalent
*Be ready to replace all the rubber suspension and power train mounts with solid, poly, or teflon-lined spherical
*Call Racecomp Engineering and have custom KW Clubsport coil overs made
*Fit strong wheels and Hoosier A6/R6, quality wheel studs

At this point, you'll be able to start developing the car.
FUN!

Basically Yeapo to all of that. You listed exact setup of my Scion tC race/daily except for the Coils being made by JIC Magic.

I definitely recommend upping the ante with the coilovers. The JIC's aren't very good. If you really want to knock it out [wallet too] JRZ or Moton are the uber brands. With any luck Nitron will bring an offering to the FR-S/BRZ, but we'll have to wait and see; they don't rush to market usually. KW will be the quickest to market and they're great for the money.
