I love the new FR-S and will most likely buy one, but there's no way it will ever be the car (even with big $$$ spent) as a '93-'98 Supra.

When Toyota decides to bring back the supra dont expect it to have a "cheap" pricetag or be ass great as the original. It is something that a lot of people are waiting for tho.

Rumors of one in 2014 or 2015 I believe but take that sh&t with a grain of salt. I imagine they will push to be on GT-R standards, with a GT-R price tag to match

Stretch front enough to install an H6 without screwing with balance. D4-S/Yamaha up (maybe some bore/stroke changes too) the EZ36 to ~300 hp. Alternatively a 2GRFSE. Change transmission (if necessary), springs and shock valving. Change front and rear appearance: Bam, Mk1/2 style Supra.
2950 lbs, 300 hp.

Feasible since that niche is not saturated at all; unlike the ~300hp RWD sports car segment.

A Supra for Today's market is not a $30k car.
And I think you are missing the point of this thread. |

IMO, they should make a 2-seat only Supra out of this car, and move the driver/passenger back to where the back seat is now. That opens up a ton of room to mount a 3.0 V6 or H6 aft of the front wheel centerline, without stretching the wheelbase much if at all or adding (much if any) weight. Replace front struts with double wishbones, offer in 300hp N/A and 450+ hp turbo form. Wider wheels/tires, bigger brakes, strict attention to keeping weight in check. Done!
Yeah, that'd be sweeeet... |
