Dammit, Australia always gets Americanised. sucks....LOL!

I had a thought of what i wanted to do with my 86 but it'll void the warranty and going to be really hard to get.

swap the 86 headlights with the BRZ....

Me too. One positive of the time until launch is that I am now locked in an intense internal battle to choose between dark grey and ultramarine.

BRZ headlights shouldn’t be “hard” to get, just expensive. Make a phonec all “Hi, is this Subaru parts? I would like a pair of BRZ headlights. Thank you”
Done. But they won’t be cheap.
Anyway, I didn’t think they were a straight swap?

And it shouldn’t void your warranty either, just the warranty on the headlights and potentially the headlight looms.
They can’t void the cars warranty because of different lights. Generally with regards to warranty, if you replace a part with something no factory and/or aftermarket there are only warranty issues if there is a failure of a component directly related to the component that is no longer factory. EG. Cars with AFM’s.. Replace air filter with a K&N style filter, oil soaks AFM, AFM burns out, engine runs lean and blows up.. Engine not warranted due to failure being a direct result of aftermarket component. However fi you do the same and you spin a bottom end bearing and it is clearly not related to the air filter, then it is still warranted.
You put aftermarket wheels on and you develop a steering rack leak... May not warrant due to potentially heavier wheels and bigger tyres putting more load on.
That sort of thing.
Contrary to popular assumption/belief, doing modifications doesn’t directly void a warranty.

I'm guessing it's a plastic door guard for shipping/transport purposes. Couldnt find a picture of the actual piece by itself, but here's one showing similar pieces.
