the 5x114.3 would be nice, but it's not 100% necessary for me. i thought about including it, but for me to readily swap slicks between my MR2 and the FT86, the FT would also need to be able to fit 15" wheels... it's entirely possible, but the track version (up-rated brakes) may very well not be able to fit 15" wheels. if it can't fit 15", it doesn't matter much to me if it's 5x114.3 or 5x100.

I would be jumping for joy. But it's really unlikely. The MX-5 comes in above 2500lbs, and the FT86 has both a metal roof and a heavier motor. I'll be happy if it comes in under 3000lbs. (My, how heavy cars have gotten if that's lightweight.)

There's hope. Wheels have gotten stupid big; as in actual making handling worse. But some cars still come with 16s.

Not happening at a $21K base price. Either it'll be optional, or the price will have to come up.

I would be willing to spend up to $1K on that as an option though. So please Toyota, make it available.

Coupes are usually lighter than convertibles.

16's are ultra small?

17's are about as big as they need to be for this car, and thats pushing it.

And don't gimme that blah blah blah rotor BS. A rotor using the full extent of a 17 inch rim is WAYYYY more than necessary to stop this car on a dime.

This isn't daddy's old muscle car y'know.

I do agree w you on this one. You can find good rotors & calipers that fit under 17's. 17's or 16's either works for me. Also rims are least amount of my worry. Wheels we can change, but some other parts can't (or should I say cost more $$$$$$$$).

My minimum requirements are:
1. 6sp MT
2. Light weight (only asking for less than 2750 lbs)
3. Nice price range ($23k or under)
4. Can Rev up pretty high (not asking for 10k RPM, but around 8k RPM will be happy)
5. Before selling them, final design is driven & approved by Tsuchiya Keiichi-san.

"LESS THAN" 16 is ultra small. 17" are just fine for me thanks. Take your bitching elsewhere.

p.s. WRT the brakes, it's not about stopping it the first time, it's about stopping it over and over and over again.

the bigger the wheel, the more likely rotational inertia will exist, making acceleration, deceleration, as well as turning at higher speeds more difficult for the car. i'd be happy with 16's, lots of great tire choices in that range. the only two benefits of a larger diameter wheel are bigger rotors as well as aesthetics, everything else is pretty much a downside i'd say.

edit: well that and maybe tire selection is better with the larger wheels

17s are ok. I would really prefer 15s or 16s. Just please don't put ridiculous 18s on there as standard.

LOL, who's bitching?

Your post made it sound like you thought 16's were ultra small.

Take your tude elsewhere.
