Most give me a thumbs up, but it seems like the STI and WRX crowd merely give you a grudging nod like "Yeah its a Subaru but not like ours". Never gotten a negative attitude from anyone.

Never had that sort of interaction yet.
The in joke about the SV650 motorcycle is that it's a "girls bike".
It's not a fast bike, but it's lightweight, narrow and shreds up the corners with the best of them.

Half the price of a literbike and you can mod the heck out of it.
It's an 90deg twin with a very wide powerband. Where have I seen that lately? I'm good with that.

As far as I am concerned its still Subaru anyways. The manufacturer placard does say Fuji heavy industries. That's all I need.
For a second I thought the manufacturer placard said:
Fujiwara Tofu Industries

..but yeah bro. Don't let $hit like that get you down. As long as you have your FR-S, and your good health. Live the dream!

Our cars per say are more so about handling and oversteer instead of sheer speed.

The beauty of oversteer is that those who know about it, mostly indulge in it and prefer it. Oversteer is fun, but yet again only us car guys will care about it.

Those who tend to insult other cars don't really know about the subject of those cars, a lot of the people on this forum dislike FWD cars but in fact FWD cars can be a lot of fun as well and most people won't drive a proper FWD car on the track.

I personally think that the frs is a beast, not in the horsepower side of it but in the all around car view point. i drove a 350z modded almost 330 whp yes it was very fast, beat alot of people because it was so fast, but in the all around view in my opinion doesnt compare. just my 2cents but i havent drove my Z for about a month now

Just ignore all that.
Would you call the Toyota 2000GT a Yamaha? It was built by Yamaha.
And you can point out to all these people that I bet most of their tools are Made in China, even if they're name brand.

Never had any issue with people, just curious looks from dealer workers sometimes when I take it in for service, Cuz I put Subaru emblems on mine. Only got asked once "is it a Subaru or a scion?" lol.

die hard subaru fans will say that this car is a subaru, yet subaru as a company, wouldn't have made this car, nor any car that resembled it. it's not even in their styling spectrum.
of course toyota spearheaded the idea, but they didn't have the resources to build it on their own. thus they left it to subaru to build it from their parts bin.
this car is equally a toyota as it is a subaru. it wouldn't be what it is today without one or the other company.

I agree. My wife and I have both owned Subarus for the past 10 years, so it was quickly apparant that so much of our 86 is out-and-out Subaru. But, equally so, so much isn't - and which parts are and which parts aren't is easy for a Subaru owner to distinguish.

"Some say"... that they forgot to include the most important Subaru part - the turbo. I disagree. I own a turbo Scooby, so I've been there and done that. I love the "bang" of forced induction, but I also love the purity of the N/A boxer motor in the 86.

Locally I've found the Scion folks to be very welcoming even though my car has Subaru badges. The diehard Subaru guys I cannot say the same for. They certainly want to check out the car, but then just keep bringing up that its not AWD, doesn't have a turbo. I can say they haven't exactly welcomed the BRZ into the family with open arms.
