They announced that they were transitioning their kei cars to rebadged Daihatsus (thanks to Toyota) in what, 2008? Isn't the AS1 production using retooled kei car production lines? I think it's pretty safe to say that this is part of that deal, but I don't know nearly enough about kei cars in general to say that definitively - maybe others have more insight?

Subaru has had 4 successful consecutive years of sales with sales figures almost doubling every year...which is rare to see with any automaker. Subaru/FHI by no means is in the red and the stocks have been hot as of recent.

Subaru's forumla for their business gives them so much room for error, and has little risk of losing business in the industry to their competitors.
