I want to call that dealer and tell them I'm seriously interested in the BRZ AWD model printed in their ad. To see how they try to sell it to me over the phone. But I can't see the dealer's info in that picture.

Just another facet: It's interesting to see the proposed trade-in value after 42 months.

259 x 42 = 10,878
+ fees and down payment
Total = $13,472

MSRP +shipping of 26,265 - lease cost of 13,472 = 42 month old value of $12,793


In 3.5 years, do you think a BRZ Premium will be worth <$13k for trade-in? I know this is oversimplifying the math, but it's a rough idea.

I wonder what percentage of BRZ owners don't know that their car isn't AWD... I hope it's a very small, if not insignificant number. It's tough to break that when Subaru has been a full-line AWD manufacturer for over 15 years...

When I was going through some Subaru training they actually suggested hiring at least one person who was a performance enthusiast, so that at least one person would know what they were talking about if an enthusiast customer was inquiring about a WRX or BRZ. I guess I'm that guy in the dealership

You should go down there and ask for the AWD BRZ. When there are none, sue for false advertising and pulling a "bait and switch". Then use that money from the lawsuit to buy a BRZ.

0% APR "on select vehicles". Doesn't say BRZ - check the fine print. With the redesigned Forester coming out, I know they're trying to move the 2013 models.

As for the lease - again, you need to check the fine print. See what the lease buyout is at termination. See how sales tax is handled in your state and if that's included in the price quote. $600 bank fee? Excuse me? More like "$600 up front profit we get no matter if you lease the car for the full 42 months or get it repo'd after 5 months".

Again - to the person doing the math above - it didn't say the BRZ had 0% APR, so without knowing the lease buyout at term price, you don't know what their lease numbers are or what they expect the price to be. That said, don't think of the lease term price to be the expected retail price in 42 months. Think of it like the trade in value. The dealer is already getting paid the depreciation, plus interest, plus the value difference between retail and trade in. If you simply turn the car in and lease another, they'd put that car on their lot for $17k, where you could have bought it out for $13k. (For example only.)

Dealers make good money on leases, even if its at 0% APR. don't forget, most leases are at full MSRP! When you buy a car you negotiate price, and can shop a loan rate. When you lease a car, that "magic low number less than buying it outright" is loaded with full MSRP, high interest rate, and a long lease period. And when it's time to turn the car in, they charge YOU for the car's reconditioning ("gonna need new tires, brakes, buff out the scratches, etc") - so you get into a lease for that new car, low payment, and no maintenance - but end up paying for the maintenance in the end anyways. And don't you dare drive a mile over the lease agreement mileage! Though if you drive under the agreement mileage you don't get a refund. The house always wins.

And as for "AWD BRZ!" - seems like half the US buyers don't even realize it comes with SUMMER tires standard, not all seasons. I wouldn't expect the dealer to have a clue.

Months after I bought my BRZ, my dealer ran a TV ad for Subaru's stating that all Subarus come with AWD standard. "It's what makes Subaru a Subaru." Yeah - might want to change your marketing material. I wonder if Subaru of America has any worries about offering a RWD car, when their commercials for the past 10+ years have been to build the brand on its AWD feature, not found on any other brand. (As in, every car they sell has AWD instead of it being an added option at most other brands.). But now they need to put a "*" next to that statement and in fine print say "excludes BRZ" and explain to customers "because racecar".

Seriously - Subaru built their US empire on offering AWD standard on EVERY car. If they start making a rwd car, what's to keep them from offering a cheaper fwd Impreza like they do in other markets? Will the "all Subarus come with AWD!" reign be brought down by the BRZ?! And what about the children? Won't someone think about the children?!!

Leases are only available for the Premium. But you're probably right on the financing, best I saw local was 2.9% with limitations.
